Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Memorial Day Weekend In PA

Showers and thunderstorms could complicate outdoor Memorial Day Weekend plans in the Philadelphia region.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Eastern Pennsylvania as showers and thunderstorms could complicate outdoor Memorial Day Weekend plans.

The storms are expected to develop across the region Saturday afternoon, and then continue through Sunday. "Heavy" downpours that could cause flooding in spots are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

But while we may be dodging showers and thunderstorms, the holiday weekend will not be a complete washout. Plan on the idea that most of the time will be rain-free, AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said in a news release.

Heavy rain, however, is possible at times and could interrupt cookouts, parades, memorial services and other holiday activities, forecasters with AccuWeather note.

Following widely scattered storms on Saturday, downpours will increase along the I-95, New Jersey Turnpike corridor from Saturday night to a portion of Sunday. This may prove to be the wettest period during the holiday weekend, AccuWeather says.
