LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —With a township prone to flooding, officials are issuing a warning regarding heavy rain Wednesday night.

Emergency Management Coordinator and Police Chief Kenneth Coluzzi said that three inches of precipitation is expected in the township.

He said that residents should use extreme caution and avoid flooded roadways.

The last time the township received such heavy rainfall in a sudden burst was in July 2023.

On July 15, 2023, a fast-moving storm dumped six inches of rain on the township, causing flash flooding that damaged homes and claimed the lives of six people in nearby Upper Makefield Township.

For nearly a month, residents in the Maplevale neighborhood have suffered from damage caused to their homes, backyards, and areas by flash flooding that swept through the region.

Forecasters say Wednesday's precipitation may cause flooding in the Delaware River Basin.
