Lower Makefield Makes Preparations Ahead Of Wednesday Storm

The LMT Community Center will open Wednesday morning as a charging/warming station for residents who lose power during the storm.

Lower Makefield Township is advising residents to prepare ahead of Wednesday's storm. The township itself is preparing for the storm in a variety of ways.

It will activate its emergency operations center starting at noon on Wednesday. Also, the LMT Community Center, located at 1550 Oxford Valley Rd, will be open to all residents as a temporary warming and charging center starting Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Residents must remove vehicles from state and local roadways within two hours of the start of the snow fall to facilitate snow plowing. Up to a foot of snow is predicted. Click here for the latest forecast.

"The storm may appear to be mild during the early morning commute but is predicted to become increasingly hazardous in the afternoon hours making travel dangerous," Lower Makefield Township police warned in an announcement.

Anyone with special needs who requires police assistance should contact 215-493-4055 so officers can provide well-being checks. For emergency assistance, residents should call 9-1-1.

A few more tips from Lower Makefield Police:

  • Do not shovel or plow the snow from your driveway or sidewalk into the street.
  • Place trash cans and recycling containers out of the way of plows, the township will not replace them if damaged.
  • Mark mailboxes with reflective material so plow drivers can avoid damage.
  • Clear snow from around fire hydrants and your home exit doors.
