Lower Makefield Rededicates Itself To U.S. Constitution

Lower Makefield Township has joined other communities to pass resolutions in the wake of the upcoming America250 celebration on July 4.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Count Lower Makefield Township among the communities in the Philadelphia region rededicating themselves to the principles of the Constitution in the wake of America 250.

At its June 17 meeting, the Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors approved a resolution commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Fourth of July.

Lower Makefield Township is among the earliest communities established in Pennsylvania.

With the resolution, the township affirms its commitment to fostering civic pride, historical preservation, public service and community engagement as lasting expressions of the American spirit, supervisors said.

The Yardley Borough Council recently passed a similar resolution that other communities are also doing.

The resolution recognizes and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America and the historic role of Bucks County and Lower Makefield Township in America's founding and continued Democratic tradition.

"This historic milestone provides an opportunity for reflection, celebration, education, and renewed civic engagement concerning the principles of liberty, self-government, representative democracy, and public service upon which the nation was founded," officials said.
