Safety Equipment Coming To 2 Lower Makefield Parks

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Anyone visiting two township parks now have an extra safety measure just in case of an emergency.

The township recently received a donation from The Aliver Foundation for two outdoor AED boxes to be placed in Memorial Park and Macclesfield Park.

The township also secured a grant through its insurance provider, Delaware Valley Insurance Trusts, to purchase additional outdoor AED boxes along with new AEDs and bleeding control kits.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnose the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation (VF) and pulseless ventricular tachycardia.

The application of electricity stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.

"The township remains committed to proactively investing in emergency preparedness and community-focused public safety initiatives," officials said.

The township plans to unveil the new safety equipment at a "community celebration" from Noon to 1 p.m. at Memorial Park on 1950 Woodside Road.

Residents will be allowed to see the new equipment, meet Lower Makefield first responders, and learn more about the public safety initiative.
