Weather Alert Issued In Lower Makefield Township
With heavy rainfall and high winds starting Tuesday, Lower Makefield Police warn residents to be prepared for flooding and power outages.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —With heavy rainfall and high winds expected from a storm starting Tuesday, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department has issued a weather alert for residents to be prepared.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly said that the region could receive up to 4 inches of rain with the heaviest rainfall expected between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. Wednesday.
After this past weekend's storm, the National Weather Service said that saturated ground will make rivers and creeks run higher with Tuesday's rainfall, thus causing flooding throughout the region.

Meanwhile, there is a wind advisory for inland areas with winds forecast up to 65 mph in some areas, the weather service said.
The storm may lead to areas of flooding, including the potential for moderate flooding of the Delaware Riveras well as smaller streams cresting early Wednesday, said Kenneth D. Coluzzi, the township's police chief and emergency management coordinator.

Police said residents should expect strong, damaging winds up to 55 mph, which may result in downed trees and power lines and power outages.
At this time, the most significant impacts appear to occur late Tuesday into Wednesday, the police chief said.
Yardley-Makefield Fire & Rescue squad personnel will be staged throughout the area.
Lower Makefield Police & Emergency Management Personnel ask that all residents avoid traveling during the storm.
Police also said residents should secure any loose items around their homes.
Any in-person township meetings should be canceled as well, the chief said.

The Lower Makefield Emergency Operations Center will open at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
