Winter Storm Alert Issued In Lower Makefield Township
Lower Makefield residents should prepare for this weekend's storm and another one coming that could cause flooding on Tuesday.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has issued a weather alert in advance of this weekend's storm.
A winter storm alert is in effect beginning Saturday through Sunday, said Kenneth D. Coluzzi, the township's police chief and head of emergency management.
The current forecast predicts mainly rain expected near and southeast of Interstate 95, though precipitation may begin or end as wet snow near Interstate 95 with little to no accumulation.

A strong storm system is likely to impact the region from Tuesday through Wednesday, police said.
Heavy rainfall is possible across our entire area with rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches possible.

"This may lead to areas of flooding, including the potential for mainstream river flooding," police said. "Strong to locally damaging winds are possible which may result in downed trees and power lines and power outages."
At this time, the most significant impacts appear to occur late Tuesday or Tuesday night. However, the exact timing and details remain unclear at this time, the chief said.
Lower Makefield Police & Emergency Management Personnel ask that all residents avoid traveling during these storms if possible. In the event of an emergency, please contact 911 immediately.
