1-Year-Old Rhode Island Child Nearly Died Of Maltreatment: DCYF
The child and the family were not involved with DCYF at the time of the incident, according to the department.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A 1-year-old child nearly died of maltreatment, the Department of Children, Youth & Families reported.
DCYF is "disclosing the near fatality of a 1-year-old child," the department said in a media release.
"A determination has been made that the near fatality resulted from maltreatment," the release said. "The child and the family were not involved with the Department at the time of this incident."

The incident occurred April 28 and DCYF notified the Office of Child Advocate, according to the release.
