Snowplow Driver Hit East Greenwich Cumberland Farm's Manager With Sideview Mirror: Cops

The driver told the manager, " Enjoy my mirror (expletive)," before reversing and hitting her, she told police, according to a report.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — A snowplow driver intentionally hit the manager of an East Greenwich Cumberland Farms with his sideview mirror during a dispute about his speed, police said.

The plow driver, Kenneth Hudson, 38, was charged with felony assault and/or battery and disorderly conduct in connection with the Monday incident at the 5687 Post Road Cumberland Farms.

Officers were called to the Cumberland Farms about 11:15 a.m. and spoke with the manager, who said "she had been in an altercation with a male subject hired to plow theparking lot, later positively identified as Kenneth Hudson," according to an East Greenwich police report.

The manager said she "observed Hudson plowing the lot at a high rate of speed," the report said.

"Concerned for safety, (she) approached Hudson and requested he slow down," according to the report.

"She stated Hudson appeared insulted by the request. (She) walked away, but as she approached the storefront, Hudson backed the vehicle up and asked, 'Do you have a (expletive) problem?' (The manager) stated she did and approached the passenger window to tell him her safety concerns," the report said.

The manager said Hudson then told her, "Enjoy my mirror (expletive)" and "proceeded to reverse the truck, intentionally striking (her) with the passenger-side rearview mirror," according to the report.

The manager "shouted for him to leave, the report said, and "Hudson exited the vehicle, yelled derogatory names at her, and then left the scene."

The manager refused medical treatment and did not have any visible injuries, but said "she was in fear for her life and believed Hudson used the vehicle with the intent to harm her," according to the report.

A Cumberland Farms employee "observed the altercation and confirmed that Hudson's vehicle struck" the manager, the report said.

An officer requested that the plow company send Hudson back to the store and he returned, according to the report.

Hudson, a resident of North Kingstown, "admitted to a verbal argument but denied intentionally striking anyone," the report said.

"Hudson stated he told the (manager), 'Watch out for my mirror,' rather than the statement alleged," according to the report.

Surveillance footage showed that the truck's "passenger side mirror makes contact with (the manager's) right arm," the report said.
