Violent Fugitive Task Force Arrests East Providence Man Felony Eluding Charge: Cops

The East Providence man was also charged with obstructing, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested an East Providence man on a charge of felony eluding and reckless driving, police said.

George Torres, 31, was also charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of duty, the state police said in a media release.

The charges stemmed from an East Providence Police Department case, the release said.

"The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Violent Fugitive Task Force," according to the release.

"Mr. Torres was taken into custody without incident and turned over to members of the East Providence Police Department," the release said.
