Hearthside Museum's two most popular events for young girls and their moms include the Doll Tea Party and the Doll Garden Party. This year they are combined into one being held on Saturday, June 6th, with the best of both events included. Each year the events focus on a different period in history as told through the story of an American Girl Doll character. With this special 250th anniversary year for America, the story is about Felicity, the character from 1774.
Felicity's Liberty ChocolTEA & Doll Garden Party will be held on the grounds under a tent, with a choice of two seatings at either noon or 3:00 pm.
This charming event is part of the Museum's effort at teaching history through dolls and includes an afternoon of Colonial themed activities for young girls with their doll as they learn about Felicity and her daily life while growing up in in 1774. Since at that time the colonists were boycotting tea and instead enjoyed chocolate as their favored beverage, there will be a choice of hot chocolate, herbal tea, or lemonade along with bite-size sweet treats. Proper etiquette at a tea will be among the topics covered in the presentation and an original collection of Felicity dolls and her period-correct accessories will be featured.
After refreshments and the program, the attention turns to the outdoors with colonial games in the yard. Included in the event will be touring the WE THE PEOPLE exhibit that commemorates our country's 250th anniversary, prizes, a raffle, a keepsake photo of each guest, and shopping. Guests must be school age, at least 6 years old, and accompanied by a parent or another adult to share the experience together.
Advance reservations only through hearthsidehouse.org by June 2nd. Tickets are $30 each guest. Space is limited.
