Providence Man Jailed On Suboxone Possession Charge: Cops

The Providence man was arrested during a traffic stop, police said.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The Providence man was arrested during a traffic stop, police said.

Junior Diaz, 48, was pulled over and arrested on Route 4 in North Kingstown about 3 p.m. Sunday, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Suboxone is "used for opioid dependence to reduce opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms," according to the website Drugs.com.

"Suboxone should be used as part of a complete treatment plan that includes counseling and psychosocial support," the site said.

Diaz was processed at the Wickford Barracks and taken to the Adult Correctional Institution — Men's Intake pending a morning arraignment, according to the release.
