Man On Electric Unicycle Struck By Stolen Car In Pawtucket Hit-And-Run: Cops

PAWTUCKET, RI — A man riding an electric unicycle was struck by a stolen car that fled the scene of the collision Sunday, police said.

The 48-year-old unicyclist who was hit near the corner of Main and Magill Streets suffered "numerous life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition at a local hospital," the Pawtucket Police Department said in a media release.

Hours before the crash, police received a license plate reading camera alert that a stolen vehicle was traveling through Pawtucket, according to the release.

"Moments later, our Officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop," the release said.

"The operator failed to stop, and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued," according to the release. "In the interest of public safety, the vehicle pursuit was ultimately terminated."

Police identified a suspected driver as 26-year-old Maryna Ohagan of Providence, the release said.

A warrant was issued for Ohagan's arrest and she was captured by the Providence Police Department, according to the release.

Ohagan was charged with duty to stop in an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, possession of a stolen vehicle or vehicle parts, larceny, and reckless driving, the release said.
