Richmond Man Wanted On Vandalism Charge Nabbed: Cops

The charge stemmed from a Rhode Island State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit investigation, police said.

RICHMOND, RI — A Richmond man wanted on a vandalism charge was apprehended, police said.

Gary Tavares, 65, was arrested by Rhode Island State Police troopers shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging him with vandalism or malicious injury to property, the state police said in a media release.

The charge stemmed from a state police Gaming Enforcement Unit investigation, police said.

"The arrest was the result of the subject responding to the State Police — Hope Valley Barracks," the release said.

Tavares was taken into custody, processed, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a court date, according to police.
