String Of Vehicle Break-Ins In Tiverton: Police

TIVERTON, RI — The Tiverton police say they have responded to a string of vehicle break-ins.

"In many of these incidents, offenders are looking for easy opportunities — typically targeting vehicles that have been left unlocked or contain valuables in plain sight," the police department said in a social media post.

The department encouraged residents to make a "9 p.m. checj" of vehicles, as well as locking all doors and closing all windows.

Police also recommended removing or hiding valuables from vehicles, "including wallets, purses, cash, electronics, and firearms," and turning on exterior lights and security cameras.

"A simple one-minute check each evening can greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim," the post said.

"If you notice suspicious activity in your neighborhood, or if you believe someone is attempting to enter vehicles, call the Tiverton Police Department immediately," according to the post. "Working together and remaining vigilant helps keep our neighborhoods safe."
