Dallas Schedules Two Mosquito Control Spraying Sessions This Week

The City of Dallas scheduled mosquito control spraying sessions for this week after samples tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The city put out a press release with the details on Tuesday. According to the release, the spraying will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night from Wednesday, June 24 to Thursday, June 25.

The first area to be sprayed is in District 14, in an area generally bounded by 7000 Lindsley; Clayton Ave. on the north; Covington Ln. on the west; E. Grand Ave. on the east; and Cameron Ave. on the south.

The second area to be sprayed is in District 1, in an area generally bounded by 3400 Grafton Ave.; Burlingdell Ave. on the north; Burns Ave. on the west; South Ravinia Dr. on the east; and June Dr. on the south.

The third area to be sprayed is in District 12, in an area generally bounded by 4400 Country Brook; S. Capistrano Dr. on the north; Midway Rd. on the west; Dallas North Tollway on the east; and Cobblers Ln. on the south.

While the United States Environmental Agency approves the insecticide for treatment, residents in the above areas should take care to avoid contact with the spray by staying indoors.

People inside a vehicle while trucks are actively spraying should remain in their vehicles with the windows up and the air conditioner on until the trucks pass through and the spray is no longer visible.

Additionally, Dallas residents are urged to take precautions against mosquito bites by reducing outdoor activity during the evening and nighttime hours. Anyone outside during these times should cover their arms and legs and use a mosquito repellent.
