It's Going to Be a Hot and Potentially Rainy Weekend in North Texas

It could be a hot and potentially rainy weekend in North Texas, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas.

The NWS issued a bulletin about the forecast on Thursday afternoon. According to the report, warmer and mostly rain-free conditions are forecast to end the workweek.

Temperatures on Friday will be approximately 5 degrees above normal. Afternoon heat index values will range from 92-98 degrees. Expect south winds of 5-10 mph.

Those above normal temperatures are expected to continue this weekend with highs in the low to mid 90s.

There are low chances for thunderstorms west of the I-35 corridor on Saturday and Sunday, mainly during the evening hours. Most areas will stay dry.

What the NWS refers to as an "unsettled pattern" will bring daily rain chances to North and Central Texas through the beginning of next week. However, not every area will see rain each day.

The severe weather threat is low, but a few stronger storms are possible. Those could bring heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning.

As a reminder, residents should make preparations before a thunderstorm, including remaining weather aware, signing up for notifications, creating a family communications plan, and preparing homes for hazards like damaging wind or large hail.
