Austin Police Seeking Suspect in Connection to Campus Theft

The Austin Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection to a campus-area theft back in February.

The department put out a press release asking for the public's help locating the suspect on April 2. According to the release, the incident occurred at the Barefoot Campus Outfitter located at 2338 Guadalupe St. on the morning of Feb. 18.

Police claim that the woman entered Barefoot Campus Outfitter, picked up and concealed a Hampton Road shoulder bag before leaving the store without paying for the bag.

The press release includes two photos of the suspect, who is described as:

  • White female
  • Blonde hair
  • Thin build
  • Seen wearing a blue Yankees t-shirt and light colored pants. The photo also seems to indicate she is wearing a pair of sunglasses on her head.

Anyone with information about this incident can submit an anonymous tip to the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting the website or calling 512-472-8477.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

Founded in 2002, Barefoot Campus Outfitter is a licensed college apparel company with multiple locations near universities around Texas.

According to its website, the Austin location opened in October 2024 just a few months after its owners visited the city and decided the stretch of Guadalupe known as the Drag could use a new purveyor of Texas Longhorn gear.

A percentage of store proceeds goes back to the University of Texas, and it also offers military, faculty, and alumni discounts in-store.
