aGLIFF’s Queer Black Voices initiative proudly presents Assembly, a visually stunning documentary following internationally acclaimed artist Rashaad Newsome as he transforms New York’s historic Park Avenue Armory into a bold celebration of Black queer culture.
Blending performance, music, dance, visual art, technology, and AI, Newsome and his collaborators reclaim a space once associated with white military power and reimagine it as a place of creativity, resilience, and liberation. The result is an immersive exploration of how Black queer artists confront history, build community, and imagine new possibilities for the future.
Having made its World Premiere at SXSW Film in Austin, Assembly returns to the city for this special Queer Black Voices presentation during The Big Queer Weekend.
