The briefing took place at its work session on May 5.

Fort Worth City Council heard an update on the 2050 Comprehensive Plan at its May 5 work session. Here's what members learned.

The city published a blog post about the briefing on May 11. According to the post, the CMO Planning Division teamed up with its MIG consultant to explain the "roadmap for Fort Worth's future," which significantly extends the original plan adopted in 2000 and last update in 2023.

The plan establishes a community-driven vision, goals, and actionable strategies and policies to bring about that future. The plan is supposed to guide Fort Worth's growth and development for the next 25 years.

The city team and consultant have conducted extensive community engagement efforts, including a variety of in-person events and online activities. Top priorities include public safety, multi-modal transportation, preservation of open space, housing affordability, responsible growth, and walkable mixed-use neighborhoods.

The schedule projects the plan will be in for review, revision, and adoption in the first half of 2027.

A virtual open house is launching soon and will be available online through May as a follow-up to the in-person open house held on May 4 at City Hall.
