Eagle's Trace, an Erickson Senior Living community in West Houston, Tex., is redefining retirement living.
Freed from the burdens of homeownership like mowing lawns, raking leaves, and ongoing repairs, residents have more time to participate in engaging activities, make new friends, and enjoy an array of on-site amenities.

"We quickly made relationships with other residents--so many in such a short time," Bert says. "I've never experienced that! Everybody is very warm to us."
The unexpected

Bert and Evelyn were living in a 55-plus community when they decided to explore other senior living options in the Houston area.
"We hadn't intended to look into a move," Bert recalls, "but we decided to look at Eagle's Trace."
"That started our journey," adds Evelyn.
What they discovered was a vibrant community that would bolster their active lifestyle now and provide support, if needed, in the future. "The surprises were almost beyond belief!" says Bert.
The couple was impressed by the many on-site amenities, including a fitness center, pool, creative arts studio, woodshop, library, bocce and pickleball courts, and more. Not to mention the dozens of clubs, which relate to a variety of interests and hobbies.
As a continuing care retirement community, Eagle's Trace offers additional levels of care on site, such as assisted living and long-term care. Coming from a 55-plus community, that was a real draw for Bert and Evelyn.
The community's close proximity to their niece and nephew was an added bonus.
A vibrant lifestyle
Since settling into their maintenance-free residence at Eagle's Trace, the couple has maintained an active lifestyle full of fun activities and new friends.
They've found that dining at the seven on-site restaurants is a great way to meet new people.
"The relationships that we've developed here are one of the biggest plusses for me," Evelyn says. "We are so impressed with the quality of the food."
Thanks to the Signature Dining program, the made-to-order menu items at the fast-casual venues, bistros, bars, and full-service restaurants at Eagle's Trace change regularly--something they never expected of a retirement community.
Evelyn enjoys participating in exercise classes at the fitness center and Bert is a proud member of the physics club, both of which have led to new connections.
"I don't think I've ever been any place where people were nicer. Everyone is so friendly in every way," Bert says.
Envision your future
If this is the retirement lifestyle you've been looking for, Sales Director Jon David encourages scheduling a personalized tour and joining the Priority List for a more in-depth look at community life.
Visits are tailored to highlight amenities that matter most to you--whether they be active spaces like the pool and classrooms, or more relaxed areas such as the outdoor patios and library.
"Priority List members have the opportunity to sign up for an overnight Live the Life stay, giving them the chance to dine with current residents and join club meetings," David says. "It's an unbeatable way to experience life at Eagle's Trace before moving in."
In fact, Bert and Evelyn stayed in a furnished guest suite at the community for three days and two nights.
"The first night, they paired us with another couple," recalls Evelyn. "We went out to dinner and chatted and asked lots of questions."
"When I asked the residents what they didn't like, they said that their only reservation was that they hadn't moved in sooner!" says Bert.
Evelyn adds, "About halfway through the meal, Bert looked at me and said, 'I think I'm all in.'"
A good decision
Approaching their one-year anniversary at the community, Bert and Evelyn are so glad they explored their options and found Eagle's Trace. Their newfound freedom, access to amenities and health care, and vibrant lifestyle is even better than they expected.
"This move has been such a good thing," she says. "I was really surprised at how quickly we felt at home!"
