About the event:
T’ai Chi Chih® uses gentle, mindful movements to promote smooth Chi energy flow, reducing stress and enhancing emotional balance, physical wellness, spiritual growth, and community connection. The practice of 19 movements and one pose, which when learned can be practiced in a group or alone. The phrase "gentle does it" is particularly relevant to Tai Chi Chih, as it emphasizes the slow, controlled movements and low-impact nature of the practice contributing to overall well-being and wellness through simple daily exercises and community support. This practice is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, including those with limited mobility or joint pain.
About the instructor,&nbsp;Marilyn Griffin:&nbsp;
I’m a retired social worker who worked in health administration for over 40 years focusing on improving access and reducing health disparities among poor, low-income and vulnerable population groups. Creating need-based solutions with local citizen groups, local health providers and institutions, universities, government and professional organizations. Since retiring I have focused on optimizing my spiritual and physical health, exploring the great secrets of life, and; sharing this energy with other receptive souls. After practicing T’ai Chi Chih. in excess of six years, I became an accredited teacher. The effectiveness of T’ai Chi Chih in anyone, grows with practice. I have experienced the benefits and the joy that it brings. It’s not hard when you realize how joyous such practice can be.

The Good Table Gathering Space

We are excited to host a new “Music Together” practice session with Wonder Weir. Open to all ages, but designed for 0-5. Bring your littles to move, play, and learn.
Music Together® is an early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age eight—and the grownups who love them!
Join Local mom and music enthusiast, Wonder Weir for practice classes to learn more about this program while building community and putting rhythm in our bodies with our little ones. Wonder has years of experience in the program– using what she’s learned in class as a nanny and now with her own little. The early childhood music curriculum has decades of research behind it, both in music education and child development.
Practice sessions will be held July 30th and August 13th. These sessions are aimed for ages 0-5, but the whole family is welcome!

Music Together Practice Session: Early Childhood Music and Movement Program at The Good Table

Learn mediation techniques to tune in to your body and mind and facilitate deep relaxation and healing.&nbsp; This will be a 1 hour session geared toward participants ages 14 and up (primarily adults, though teenagers are also welcome to attend).&nbsp;&nbsp;
This session will be broken up in 3 parts:&nbsp;&nbsp;
1. 10-15 minutes explaining how this form of meditation works, basic instructions, a brief explanation of why this works at the physical, cognitive, and scientific level, and to address any questions participants may have prior to starting.&nbsp;
2. 25-30 minutes of guided meditation where participants will either lay down on a yoga mat, or sit comfortably on a mat or in a chair.&nbsp; I will provide instruction as to how to calm the mind through counting breaths, followed by instruction as to how to deeply relax at the physical level.&nbsp; It is important to note that this will require complete stillness for a minimum of 20 minutes.&nbsp; Something to cover ones eyes (such as a sash or eye pillow) may be helpful, though not necessary, also participants can also bring ear plugs and or something similar to dampen sound if they would like (again not required but helpful for some).&nbsp;
3. 10-15 minutes for discussion and Q&amp;A.&nbsp; Here we can discuss as a group and address any challenges, questions, or aspects of practicing this on a continued basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
About the presenter:&nbsp;
David Hopper is Teacher, Creative, and Wellness Advocate with background in Psychology and Healing Arts who has spent a lifetime learning from and working with a broad and diverse range of spiritual, creative, and educational communities.
For over 20 years David has worked and taught primarily in the creative and wellness space, offering instruction in Music, Visual Arts,&nbsp; and Healing Arts, and currently works as a Designer, Musician, and Educator. He is happy to call the Bay Area his home and share his knowledge and expertise with his community.&nbsp;
