📍 Rye Harbor, Rye, NH - aboard the Shining StarJoin the Rye NH Historical Society and step back in time on a day trip few ever get to experience! Join us for a guided tour of the legendary Isles of Shoals, with rich historical narration by ISHRA board member Mark Lechner. 🌊



In 1614, Captain John Smith was so captivated by these nine islands that he named them for himself - and wrote that he’d “rather live here than anywhere.” Lying just six miles off Portsmouth Harbor, five islands belong to Maine (Kittery) and four to New Hampshire (Rye): Star, Lunging, White &amp; Seaveys. Spectacularly scenic, and packed with three centuries of seafaring tales. 🏝️

Your ticket includes:
⛵ Round-trip boat ride from Rye Harbor
🎙️ Live historical narration incl. SML docents🚶 The chance to deboard and explore both Appledore and Star Island


🍔 Lunch: A food truck on Star Island serves burgers, dogs &amp; lobster rolls at very reasonable prices — or feel free to pack a picnic!

Good to know:
🕗 Meet on the dock at Rye Harbor by 8:45 AM (boat departs promptly at 9). Parking is $5 for the day.
🧥 Dress for the weather — bring a jacket or windbreaker for the boat ride. ☀️🌧️ Rain or shine!



⚠️ Mobility note: Guests will walk over rocky, uneven terrain with loose stones and unpaved paths, and should be able to walk independently. This excursion is not recommended for those who require a walker, cane, or other mobility assistance device.
