<h2>Troop 711 is recruiting girls ages 11-17 from surrounding areas</h2>From Jessica Zamachaj, Scoutmaster Troop 711:&nbsp; Troop 711 in Milford is a Girl Troop with Scouting America, formerly the Boy Scouts of America. We started two years ago and have been having fun ever since. Allowing girls in scouting 7 years ago started my journey as an adult leader in scouting. It has been an amazing experience. As current scoutmaster of Troop 711 I am so proud to watch the girls learn outdoor skills, gain leadership experience and work as a team in tough situations. I have a daughter that has been in scouts since she was 5 and I have seen her transform into a confident, self aware leader who is still growing and adapting. Scouting morals have helped our family give our children a foundation of trust, kindness and loyalty. If you have a daughter who may benefit from what scouting can bring them, come check us out. We are having an open house on September 29th at 7pm at the Margaret Egan Center in Milford. On Monday, September 14, 2026 Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (HFFC) will feature
the Fairfield Country Rep of the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut, Amber Vlangas, who will discuss the ongoing national attack on voting rights and how CT residents can help. &nbsp;She can also discuss other current issues on ACLU CT’s radar, including privacy, immigrant rights and protections for the right to demonstrate. 

Amber Vlangas is a civil liberties activist who has served as the Fairfield County Engagement Officer with the ACLU CT for nearly five years. After serving in the United States Marine Corps and earning her B.A. in Visual and Public Communication, Amber has spent more than 25 years in nonprofit outreach, organizing, and resource development. She currently serves on the steering committees and leadership teams of several national groups and co-hosts the podcast Amplified Voices.

The ACLU of Connecticut defends, promotes, and expands the civil rights and civil liberties of all people in Connecticut through litigation, community organizing and legislative advocacy, and civic education and engagement. Organized in 1948, it is an inclusive, non-partisan, and statewide organization within the nationwide American Civil Liberties Union network. 

This meeting is free and open to all.&nbsp;&nbsp;Join us in Wilton for the presentation and the social gathering beforehand.&nbsp; (We will supply the address after you register.) Gourmet pizza and refreshments will be served from 6:15-7:00 PM.&nbsp;The presentation will start at 7:00. &nbsp;We will also be recording and broadcasting this meeting virtually via Zoom for anyone who is unable to join us in person; check in is at 6:45.&nbsp;

The evening will explore:

Sex Over 35: Hormones, Desire, Pleasure & Connection

The 35th
Annual Folks on Spokes &amp; Step Forward Ride + Walk event is planned for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 8:00 am to 2 pm at Fowler Field in downtown Milford. 
As one of Connecticut’s longest running charitable events, cyclists and walkers come together to raise funds and awareness for mental health and addiction recovery in support of Bridges Healthcare’s services. Participants of all ages can enjoy the scenic Milford coastline by riding 5, 10, 20, or 40 mile routes or walking a 5K. This family-friendly event includes activities for kids, music, lunch, event t-shirts, and a special remembrance ceremony to honor lives lost to suicide and overdose.
Early registration discounts are available through August 31, 2026. From September 1-October 1, 2026 advanced registration fees are $50 per cyclist, $35 per walker, $15 for kids under 18. Children 6 and under are free.

Grace Worship Assembly's Covenant Sisters 3rd Annual Tea

For 3 years now, the Milford Education Foundation has sponsored a unique and fun way to engage middle and high schoolers with learning and social connections by igniting their creativity and imagination. 
It&rsquo;s called Paint Your Path, and the concept is quite simple. We engage a couple of exceptionally talented artists through The Milford Arts Council (Miguel Estrada and Kiko Hernandez). We get a bunch of blank skateboards. Then we get a bunch of kids through the Boys and Girls Club of Milford, and we get them to create some fabulous designs. And what they come up with is testimony to the imagination, creativity, and sense of detail innate in all of these young people. By the way, this is not an art class, per se, and it is open to kids with a vast array of interests. 
Paint Your Path was made possible by a grant through the Devon Rotary. Throughout the month of September, the boards will be on display at Milford Pediatrics, 50 Commerce Park. This is a great way for parents of young children to see this work and determine interest for next year&rsquo;s program.
