CALLING ALL CAREGIVERS 
Our FREE YMCA Caring for Caregivers support group program is now entering its second year, and we are looking forward to seeing new and returning members in our meetings at the Long Island City YMCA and for other in-person and online events this year.
In our program, the focus is on the caregivers.
Caregivers often give up a lot in their own lives, while caring for others. Many caregivers feel strong emotions due to caregiving pressures. 
We support you to take care of yourself better AND get more assistance in your caregiving role from state, city, and community resources.
Then you can feel better about your caregiving, minimize burnout, and feel more fulfilled in your own life.

The entire neighborhood will be turned into an arts experience at KEW GARDENS COMMUNITY ARTS DAY 2026 on Saturday, September 19 (rain date September 27), noon to 5:00pm. This will be the 12th year of the Outdoor Art Fair, a very well attended event and the day promises to be a big celebration of the arts with a small-town feel. Expect an eclectic mix of artwork created by talented Queens artists including demonstrations of many of the art forms. As always, the art sales will be located on Austin Street and cohosted for the 3nd year by Austin’s Ale House on their back patio. Relax in Kew Gardens Cinemas Park while listening to four hours of talented local musicians playing a popular mix of music genres. There will be many experiences for children and adults to enjoy at the Arts Zone (“A Great Place to Create”), at the Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival (transform NYC concrete into intricate, wild works of art), learn about and meet some Reptiles at the Alley Pond Park Environmental Center’s table (noon-1:30), leave a message on the Wishes for the World Tree, be sure to stop by the public service organization tables, enjoy offerings by Kew Gardens businesses, AND expect LOTS AND LOTS of surprises and much much more!

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators and the general public to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity.  The 3rd Annual Step Up for Fashion on Madison Avenue returns on Saturday, September 19, presented by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), benefiting the CFDA Scholarship Fund, The day-long initiative brings together CFDA members, over 50 leading American and international fashion brands, retailers, students, and the Madison Avenue community for a celebration of fashion, creativity, and philanthropy. Step Up for Fashion will once again serve as the centerpiece of Welcome Back Saturday, the Avenue’s annual celebration of the fall season and the exceptional fashion, jewelry, accessories, and boutiques spanning from East 57th to East 86th Streets as well as adjacent side streets. At the heart of this year’s program is the CFDA Scholarship Fund and the emerging designers it supports.
