IN 2008, NORAH JONES, SASHA DOBSON, AND CATHERINE POPPER FORMED PUSS N BOOTS.
Initially it was a vehicle for Jones and Dobson to play music together and try new things, with Popper joining on bass shortly after. The trio played various New York clubs, with a repertoire anchored in Americana, country, folk, pop and rock. The band became an outlet for Jones, Dobson and Popper to switch instruments, and allowed them to showcase a different side of themselves than in their various solo and side projects.
In 2013, some five years after the group began playing, they signed with Blue Note Records and set out to assemble their debut record. Comprised of originals and covers, studio recordings and live performances, that debut was called No Fools, No Fun. Released in the summer of 2014, it was supported by a tour of the U.S.
In 2019, the trio took the stage at the MusiCares charity event honoring Person of the Year Award recipient Dolly Parton, and performed Parton’s “The Grass Is Blue”. Later that year Jones, Dobson, and Popper released their holiday album Dear Santa, followed by their 2nd full length album Sister in 2020.

Jeffrey Gaines has been heralded for his soul-searching lyrics and his powerful live performances.
With only his voice and a guitar for accompaniment, Gaines has earned a reputation as a captivating performer, entertaining his audiences worldwide.
Throughout his three-decade recording career, Gaines has maintained an impressive standard for soul-searching, introspective lyrics and catchy, uplifting melodies. Since bursting on the scene with his self-titled 1992 debut album, the charismatic singer-songwriter-guitarist has built a beloved body of recordings that’s won him a large and deeply devoted international fan base. He has sold out theaters and clubs throughout North America and Europe. With his compelling live performances gaining high respect, Gaines was asked to join tours as support act for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in Europe, Tracy Chapman, and Stevie Nicks with Sheryl Crow, among others. He will be supporting Roger Daltry on his upcoming tour.
Gaines landed his first record deal shortly after graduating from high school, and in 1992 released his widely acclaimed debut album Jeffrey Gaines. The eponymous disc won massive amounts of critical and audience acclaim, spawning the hit “Hero in Me.” Somewhat Slightly Dazed (1994) and Galore (1998) further expanded his audience. Interview magazine described Gaines’ work as “soul-searching” and “refreshingly free of jargon, sentiment or cliché.”
In 2001, Gaines’ release Always Be yielded a surprise hit in his deeply felt interpretation of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes”; 2003’s Toward the Sun attracted even more critical accolades, with Mojo praising the “soul-folkie’s sexy growl” and The Boston Globe declaring that “Gaines’ soulful, wounded vocals make a case for his being one of pop’s finest singers.” Toward the Sun was followed by a pair of live albums, the 2004 CD/DVD Jeffrey Gaines Live and 2012’s Live in Europe, which reflected the deep and abiding rapport that Gaines has with his fans. In 2018, Gaines released his eighth studio album, Alright. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with Chris Price, Val McCallum and Elvis Costello’s Imposters, Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher.
“The biggest pleasure I derive from this is playing live,” Gaines notes. “There’s nothing more satisfying for me than a good live gig. I’m in control, but the audience can take it to a place that’s higher than I can imagine. When I show up for a live gig, I don’t need much, there’s no rider. It’s just, turn it on, let the audience in, and we’ll do the rest. It’s the best job anyone could ever have.”
With more than a quarter-century of recording and performing under his belt, Jeffrey Gaines is enjoying life and music more than ever. “Nowadays, I know what the job is about so there’s nothing to stress about,” he says. “I know that there’s people out there who want it, so I have the opportunity to extend their experience. I guess I could lay my albums all out and see that they tell a story, but personally I prefer to keep looking forward.”

Danielle Miraglia

Danielle Miraglia comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson and an infectious stomp-box rhythm with tunes ranging from heart-felt to socially conscious that will move both your heart and hips. Her latest “Bright Shining Stars” debuted at #15 on the Billboard Blues Charts.
Cascade Blues Association calls it “… tough as rawhide, but smooth as blended whiskey.” Released Oct 2020 with Vizztone Label Group, it’s a solo acoustic folk/blues record that highlights the one-woman-band live sound she’s honed over the years, featuring guest appearances by talented friends Laurence Scudder, Peter Parcek and Richard “Rosy” Rosenblatt. It includes originals as well as a collection of songs she covers at live shows, paying homage to influences like Big Bill Broonzy, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and more, plus the title track “Bright Shining Stars,” written by her husband, Tom Bianchi.
“Amricana and blues practitioner Danielle Miraglia wisely avoids fuss and clutter on her latest album, Bright Shining Stars. Fingerpicking and strumming on acoustic guitar are central to her sound, with percussion frequently provided by the infectious stomp of her foot. Three of the 11 tracks here are solo recordings, reinforcing a truism that the artist frequently has proven on Boston-area stages: A charming voice and fluid guitar prowess are all an artist needs to keep a listener rapt.” – Bobby Reed, Downbeat Magazine
“Straddling the line where folk/roots meets rock/blues, Miraglia has a voice that can go from a raspy come-hither purr to an Etta James-esque powerhouse belt, although she may be best known for her lead thumb — a heavy, thumping strike on her Gibson that’s backdrop percussion in itself.” – Lauren Daley, The Boston Globe

Antje Duvekot

Crafter of intricate, closely observed songs
“Her songs feel at once fresh faced and firmly rooted, driven by the whispery sensuality of her voice.” – The Boston Globe
“She creates an entire, detailed world in verse, and takes you there with beautiful and understated melody.” – Neil Dorfsman, Producer
Antje has extensive touring experience, criss-crossing the US and Europe many times. She is a compelling live performer and has been invited to play some of the top festivals including The Newport Folk Festival as well as the Mountain Stage, Philadelphia and Kerrville Festivals. Internationally, she’s headlined the The Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland and the Tonder Festival in Denmark. She’s the winner of some of the top songwriting awards, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville (TX) “Best New Folk Award” and, in one of the nation’s top music markets, the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act”, three of the top prizes in the singer songwriter world.
Singer-songwriter, Antje Duvekot is poised to unveil her fifth studio album, “New Wild West”, on September 15th. According to Duvekot, this collection of songs marks the pivotal juncture of mid-life and represents a new rung on the ladder of healing from trauma. The songs on “New Wild West” signal a genuine shift in Duvekot’s relationship with some of the enduring themes she has grappled with over the years. “On the whole”, says Duvekot, “my older songs sought to disarm trauma by bluntly acknowledging its destabilizing nature and creating a space in which to exist with that sensation, both for myself and my audiences. In contrast, the newer songs have the teeth and tenacity to openly confront and defy trauma. As such, I feel very warmly towards this collection of songs. They are long overdue dissidents”. Duvekot’s amplified voice in mid-life carries a protective fierceness that resonates across the album. Songs like “Girl on a Wire” and “Evolution” salute the perseverance we all apply to our human journey towards finding our voice. Duvekot says of hers, “I crawled into music as a protective vessel when I was a teenager. It lent me safety and allowed me to stay open and let in more continuous sunlight than I could have, otherwise. I want to pay back that loan. Many of the songs on ‘New Wild West’ do that”.
The album “New Wild West” came to fruition through the collaboration of Duvekot and esteemed New England singer-songwriter Mark Erelli after a joint tour inspired the idea. Over the course of a year, Duvekot recorded most vocals from her home, while Erelli laid down the majority of instrumentation and production in his basement studio with notable guest performances by Seth Glier, Robby Hecht, Winnie Horan, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, and Kenny White. The tracks were mixed and mastered in Woodstock. Consistent with the album’s central theme of pushing beyond comfort zones and embracing new frontiers, the cover art was generated by an AI, which Duvekot admits made her considerably uncomfortable at first: “The AI-generated image is evocative and uncannily fitting, yet I was uneasy about its non-human origin. In the end, I could not resist the poetry behind that discomfort, given the theme of the album!”
“New Wild West” is lush with the poignant poetry that is the hallmark of every Antje Duvekot release. The album’s title track, “New Wild West,” encourages someone in a historical position of privilege to accept impending progress with a gently patronizing sense of sympathy. “Open Waters” espouses authenticity and bravery, in contrast to “[those who] have volunteered to be chained by fear. From one pioneer to another: it’s not that we aren’t scared, but I’ll meet you there, out in the open waters.” “Girl on a Wire” revisits a tightrope metaphor that once ran through Duvekot’s 2009 song “Vertigo,” where the protagonist feared “I will break all my bones; I lied about the Vertigo.” In “Girl,” the protagonist, instead, “walks a tightrope in the eye of the storm…I am the girl who out-dared gravity…you can keep your Phoenix and SpaceX and Richard Branson, this is me flying, this is me dancing.” The opening track on the album, “Evolution,” echoes a similar sentiment, celebrating growth (and literal evolution) and inviting us to “marvel at how far we came since the early dog days of our prehistoric dawn. Back when the phases of the moon were still just phrases without a tune…But I see you now and Holy cow, look at you now.”

Multi-platinum selling, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Geoff Tate is best known for his 30-plus years as the creative and driving force behind the progressive metal band Queensryche.
Multi-platinum selling, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Geoff Tate is best known for his 30-plus years as the creative and driving force behind the progressive metal band Queensryche.
Since its inception with Geoff at the helm, Queensryche has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has performed in upwards of fifty countries. Geoff is regarded as one of the most skilled vocalists in the genre with hundreds of modern, popular artists citing him and his former band as a major influence. Combining social consciousness and expertly crafted lyrics with high-energy, melodically complex music, Queensryche with Geoff Tate at the forefront became internationally recognized as the thinking man’s rock band. The band’s first three albums — their self-titled EP (1983), The Warning (1984) and Rage for Order (1986) — all hit gold status selling over 500,000 units each.
With the release of their landmark concept album Operation: Mindcrime (1988) — which won critical and popular acclaim and comparisons to the Who’s Tommy and Pink Floyd’s The Wall — Queensryche went on to bring their progressive music to sold-out audiences the world over. Following the album’s platinum success, Queensryche released Empire, which quickly entered the Top Ten on the Billboard charts, eventually generating sales of more than three million copies. The album featured the hugely popular hit, “Silent Lucidity,” which would be the band’s first Top Ten single (#9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart). Geoff and the band would ultimately perform the Grammy nominated song live at the Grammy awards accompanied by a supporting orchestra. In all, Queensryche has been nominated for a Grammy four times and has had their music featured in three feature films.
In 2006, the band released Operation: Mindcrime II, a scorching sequel to their original 1988 tale of “Rock, Revenge and Redemption.” The band would soon hit the road performing both albums back-to-back in their entirety in an incredible theatrical presentation. The spectacle would be captured on Mindcrime at the Moore, a double CD/DVD release so popular that the DVD would debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Music DVD chart and eventually reach gold status. Shortly after the release of that hugely successful set, Queensryche would release another gem in 2007 titled, Sign of the Times: The Best of Queensryche, that featured 17 career-spanning tracks including seven Top 10 hits with a two-CD deluxe Collector’s Edition that added fifteen rare and previously unreleased recordings. Later that year, the band found themselves on the fall leg of the highly acclaimed Heaven and Hell Tour with the late, great Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice along with other special guest, Alice Cooper. The year would culminate with the release of Take Cover, an adventurous 11-song collection of covers ranging from Black Sabbath to Broadway.
In early 2009, Queensryche released American Soldier (via Atco/Rhino Records), a concept album inspired by the stories of military veterans that examines the consequences of war from the soldier’s perspective… yet another effort that will solidify Geoff and the band in rock history. A truly memorable experience, the band met with, and performed for, troops in both the U.S. and the Middle East. In the year 2010, Queensryche would, once again, display their immense creativity by presenting the Queensryche Cabaret, which was heralded as “the first adults-only rock show.” In 2011, the band would find themselves celebrating their 30th Anniversary in rock, marking the occasion with the release of Dedicated to Chaos (Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud) and an extensive support tour.
At the end of 2012, Geoff released his first solo album in over a decade titled, Kings & Thieves (InsideOut Music), that was quickly followed by the news of a 25th Anniversary Mindcrime Tour that would encompass the United States in 2013. Also that year, Geoff would release what would be his last album under the Queensryche name, Frequency Unknown (Cleopatra Records), an effort that would feature such guest musicians as Ty Tabor, K.K. Downing, Brad Gillis, Dave Meniketti and Chris Poland along with the members of his version of Queensryche at the time – Rudy Sarzo, Robert Sarzo, Simon Wright, Kelly Gray and Randy Gane.

Geoff Tate - Operation: Mindcrime - The Final Chapter

In this life, very few friendships withstand the test of time.
Naturally, people go their separate ways and chase their own dreams. As rare as it may be for friendships to last a lifetime, it might be even rarer for a band to stick together for the long haul. For close to four decades, the members of Big Head Todd and The Monsters—Todd Park Mohr [vocals, guitar, keys, sax, harmonica], Brian Nevin [drums], Rob Squires [bass, vocals], and Jeremy Lawton [keyboards, lap pedal/steel guitar, vocals]—have continued to both throw down in the studio and light up stages worldwide. Rallying around a core vision, the platinum-selling Colorado quartet kick out the kind of blues-drenched rock ‘n’ roll bangers that make you want to rev the engine a little louder, sing along like no one’s looking, and live a little freer.
This holds true on their 12th full-length offering, Her Way Out.
“To me, my band means four people who listen to each other, work hard, and share a goal,” Todd observes. “The goal has to do with reaching out to people, catching their ears, and sharing a story we hope they relate to. Our fans have given us an incredible 40-year career, and we hope they’ve gotten great songs and performances in return.”
They’ve most definitely delivered on both fronts…
As the story goes, Todd, Brian, and Rob unlocked their musical partnership during high school when they started jamming in the early eighties. Fast forward to 1986, they adopted the moniker Big Head Todd and The Monsters. BHTM released 2 successful independent records on their own BIG Records, Another Mayberry (1989) and Midnight Radio (1990) before drawing the attention of music industry titans and signing with Irving Azoff, Chuck Morris, and Frank Barsalona in 1992. They broke nationally with the platinum-certified staple Sister Sweetly (1993) which yielded four top 10 rock radio hits. They continued to progress with Strategem [1994] and Beautiful World [1997] which yielded several more rock radio hits including Boom Boom featuring John Lee Hooker. The band is continually touring and recording and has continued to put out albums that have received critical acclaim from both fans and press.
Among other milestones, their music literally reached the heavens when they played “Blue Sky” live at NASA Mission Control, delivering a celestial wakeup for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. They’ve toured and recorded with many rock and blues legends including B.B. King, Neil Young, The Allman Brothers, Hubert Sumlin, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Dave Matthews Band, The Eagles and their personal favorite Robert Plant. Not to mention, they attained hometown hero status by headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre 35 times in addition to earning induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2023.
Her Way Out came to life organically. For two years, they hosted “Monster’s Music Monthly,” serving up either a new song or a new version of a classic online. Working out of Jeremy’s home studio, they parlayed this momentum into their latest LP.
“It had been almost seven years since our last album release, but we wanted to put the same energy of ‘Monster’s Music Monthly’ into a full-length,” Todd notes. “We have a very distinct personality as a band. I write to the sensibilities of each member, because they’re going to have to dig playing it. We’re a benevolent democracy. If one guy isn’t connecting with a certain song, that song is out. As an uncomplicated rock band, we like to do things that are ‘proper’—loud guitars, drums, big bass, and well-placed organ, keys, and lap steel. We road-tested every song on the record before recording a lick. All of that helped us dial in the arrangements, ditch tunes that didn’t work, and grow a strong sense of what our individual parts should be.”
In this respect, the single and title track “Her Way Out” packs a concentrated and catchy punch. Anchored by a steady beat, the rough and tumble riff kicks up dust as soulful vocals ignite an irresistible refrain, “She found her way out, her way out—and it was me.”
“It’s driven by the idea that relationships are frail,” he elaborates. “Sometimes, they are something one wants freedom from. A real-life circumstance drives this story. Something was said when a person had too much to drink. The relationship ended with words, but the drinker could never know what he said and the woman refused to tell him.”$58.50 - $91.00

Cowboy Junkies will be performing a career-spanning show from The Trinity Session to their recent album, Such Ferocious Beauty!

About Cowboy Junkies

Sometimes revolutions begin quietly.
In 1988, Cowboy Junkies proved that there was an audience waiting for something quiet, beautiful and reflective. The Trinity Session was like a whisper that cut through the noise — and it was compelling. It stood out in the midst of the flash and bombast that came to define the late 80’s. The now classic recording combined folk, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before and went on to sell more than a million copies.
Formed in Toronto in 1985 with siblings Michael Timmins on guitar, Margo Timmins on vocals, Peter Timmins on drums, and Michael’s lifelong friend Alan Anton on bass, the band has sparkled over the course of 29 albums. “I’ve known Alan longer than I’ve known Pete,” says Michael. “We were friends before Pete was born.”
Unlike most long-lasting groups, Cowboy Junkies have never had a break up or taken a sanity-saving hiatus. There’s an appreciation of each other that keeps them constantly working. “It’s that intimacy and understanding of what each one of us brings to the table,” says Michael.$49.50 - $99.00

JOHN BROWN’S BODY

With a long and storied career on the scene covering three decades and multiple lineup changes, JBB was formed in 1996 by Kevin Kinsella and released its seminal album “All Time”, which achieved near mythical status and is credited with being a cornerstone of the US reggae scene. As the original lead singer and songwriter for JBB, Kinsella is responsible for bringing a vast body of original music to the scene, and across the first five JBB releases. From its breakout release on Itown Records ‘All Time’, to multiple releases on Shanachie Records, JBB cemented itself as a successful touring and recording outfit with an original voice. In 2005, JBB joined forces with the legends Easy Star Records, which would begin a lasting and fruitful relationship spanning over ten years and seven releases.
Hailed as “Future roots, reggae, and dub with an intricately balanced weaving of vocals, percussion, keyboard, bass, guitar, and stunning horn section that ties it all together” (WRUV), John Brown’s Body has built “a legacy that has inspired and carved a path for the now thriving contemporary American reggae scene” (Rudeboy Reggae). Formed in Ithaca, New York, in the mid 1990s, at a time when there wasn’t yet a far-reaching U.S. reggae scene, JBB was one of a small handful of U.S. reggae bands that began touring nationally. Since then, JBB has played an important role in helping define distinctly “American reggae.” JBB’s music is steeped in traditional vibes, but unapologetically incorporates elements from other genres.
Their unique approach resonated with the masses. The group’s 2008 full-length record, Amplify, hit #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart, 2012’s JBB In Dub EP reached #1 on iTunes’ Reggae Chart, and in 2013 Kings And Queens topped both Billboard and iTunes Reggae Charts at #1. On stage, JBB finds a home across a host of genres and has toured the world extensively, performing alongside: Slightly Stoopid, Dave Matthews, Burning Spear, Gym Class Heroes, SOJA, and many more.
Featuring players from all different periods of JBB’s history, the band has released three singles recently on Easy Star Records, including dubs from such producers as Tippy, Prince Fatty, and Victor Rice. They continue to write, record, and perform, as they have for over thirty years.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love, famously dubbed the Queen of Christmas by none other than Mariah Carey, announces her highly anticipated 2026 holiday tour, Love for the Holidays.
Darlene Love’s voice is etched into the very soul of the holiday season. Her signature recordings on the legendary Phil Spector Christmas Album—including “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Marshmallow World”—remain among the most enduring and beloved holiday songs of all time. Her unmistakable vocals have also become a familiar sound in American film and television, featured in holiday classics like Home Alone 2, The Godfather, Father of the Bride, and hundreds of TV shows, films, and commercials.
Love began her career in the early 1960s, emerging from Phil Spector’s “Wall of Sound” as one of the most powerful and unforgettable voices in pop and soul. She quickly became the go-to vocalist for legends like Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Dionne Warwick, and Bruce Springsteen. Over the years, her voice has become a seasonal soundtrack for millions—and one that critics and fans alike consider irreplaceable. In fact, Rolling Stone magazine has named her one of the greatest singers of all time, and few would disagree.
Over the decades, Love has built a remarkable holiday performance legacy. She famously performed “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on The Late Show with David Letterman for 28 consecutive years, creating one of the most cherished traditions in late-night TV history. Letterman himself once said, “Darlene’s voice is the sound of Christmas.” That legacy continued when she joined her dear friend Cher in 2023 for a stunning duet at the nationally televised Christmas in Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony. The following year, in 2024, she brought the house down on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon during the show’s holiday episode with an all-star performance alongside Steven Van Zandt and Paul Shaffer. She also graced daytime television for eight straight years on The View, bringing festive cheer into millions of homes each December.
Her most iconic holiday song even includes some iconic backup: Cher was one of the original background vocalists on “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” and still calls it her favorite holiday song of all time.
Now, at 84 years young, Darlene Love shows no signs of slowing down. Her energy, grace, and unmistakable powerhouse voice continue to inspire, uplift, and electrify audiences. “I’m beyond thrilled to be getting back on the road this November,” Love shares. “Sharing these songs and moments with fans each year means everything to me. To still be doing what I love at 84 is a gift I’ll never stop being grateful for.”
In addition to her return to the stage, Darlene has just wrapped filming on a brand-new docuseries, set to debut in 2026, chronicling her extraordinary life and musical legacy.
Her upcoming Love for the Holidays tour promises to be an unforgettable celebration of music, memory, and pure holiday magic, led by one of the most iconic and enduring voices in music history.$49.50 - $149.00

THE NORTH SHORE LAST WALTZ - A 50th Anniversary Celebration
Fifty years ago, on Thanksgiving Day in 1976, some of the greatest musicians of a generation came together for one unforgettable concert: The Last Waltz. Now, 50 years later, that spirit of music, friendship, community, and giving comes to The Cabot.
The North Shore Last Waltz brings together some of the North Shore’s most talented musicians for a very special celebration inspired by the legendary original concert. Featuring Dead to the Core, Skunk Sessions, Cold Engines, The Northsure Men, Jambalaya Horns, The Far Out, and special guests Derek Dupuis, Megan Wolfe, Erinn Brown, Chelsea Berry, Amy Gallo, Henri Smith and Orville Giddings, this all-star local lineup will recreate the energy and magic of The Last Waltz while making it uniquely our own.
More than a concert, this is a celebration of community. The Cabot is proud to partner with Lifebridge North Shore during this season of giving to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Come celebrate 50 years of an unforgettable musical legacy — and the power of a community coming together. We invite you to bring a new, much-needed item to donate to Lifebridge North Shore and help make the season a little brighter for someone in our community.
Gather your friends, bring your generosity, and join us for The North Shore Last Waltz — a night of music, memories, and giving back.

THE TEMPTATIONS’ story is an extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
With their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies, they rose to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one. Just a few of their classic hits that transcends all demographics –“My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and so many more. Otis Williams is the original and founding member of The Temptations – through the good times and the bad. He is the key to their history and their stories – how they met, their groundbreaking heights, personal and political conflicts, brotherhood, family, loyalty and more. As the leader and collaborator, he has set the direction and tone for the Temptations through their transitions from the 60s to now. The group’s popularity is ever-increasing, as they are one of the most iconic, bestselling brands in the world today.
The demand for the Temptations grows as each generation discovers them. Most recently, New York Mets star player Francisco Lindor chose “My Girl” as his walk-up song. The song resonated prompting the crowd at Citi Field to sing even after he reached the plate. This resulted in the Mets inviting the Temptations to perform the National Anthem and sing for the crowd at Game 5 of the National League Championship Series. This kicked off a series of television and personal appearances that hasn’t stopped.
Marking the 60th anniversary of “My Girl,” the Temptations first #1 hit, The Temptations kicked off their official celebration in November in grand style atop Wonder float at the 98th Macy’s Day Parade thrilling the crowds along the parade route as well as millions of television viewers. In between their touring schedule, they made whirlwind stops in Los Angeles and New York for national television appearances including CNN’s Thanksgiving Special, The Today Show, The View, The Sherri Shephard Show, The Motown Christmas Special, CBS Early Show, Access Hollywood, ET, and Extra. More TV appearances are scheduled throughout the year but have not been announced yet.
At every show, they meet multi-generational fans who tell them time after time, that The Temptations is a group that everyone can enjoy. And proving the point, “My Girl” officially hit one billion Spotify streams putting them among only 1000 other artists to reach this milestone. “My Girl” celebrates several 60th anniversary chart milestones this year – No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot Rhythm & Blues, No. 1 single on the Billboard Pop charts, No. 1 on R&B chart, and #35 on the Billboard Top 200 (Pop) chart. Continuing to create new music for their fans, The Temptations are working on a new project this year as their last album of newly written material, Temptations 60, was released in 2022.
The Temptations’ heritage, influence and contributions to, not only American culture and African American communities but also to the global music landscape are monumental. The influence that The Temptations had on mainstream and global artists, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and others, is undeniable. The smash hit musical, Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations, is based on the autobiography of Otis Williams. The musical captivated thousands of theatergoers with sold-out Broadway performances breaking house records and is currently touring throughout the U.S. It originally opened on Broadway in 2019 to critical acclaim and received 12 Tony nominations winning the Tony Award for Best Choreography and was nominated for a Grammy® Award in the “Best Musical Theater Album” category. The national touring production completed their 50+ city tour as well as their production in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre, U.K.
Motown auditioned and signed the original Temptations (Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, and Elbridge “Al” Bryant) in May of 1961. When the legendary “Classic Five,” (Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin) released the single, “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” in 1964, which peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and remained on the list for 11 weeks, it marked the beginning of a multitude of award-winning and chart-topping singles and albums that would be embraced by popular music audiences globally. Considered trailblazers in the 60’s, leading the way not only for themselves but for other R&B artists, and successfully reaching mainstream audiences here and abroad, The Temptations’ rise to fame was meteoric. It was on March 6, 1965 that their first million copy, bestselling single, “My Girl” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The Temptations’ role as artists, and how they used their voices to speak to the times they lived through, especially during the 60’s-one of the most turbulent decades in our nation’s history, is compelling.

Even though Roomful of Blues’ lineup has changed over the years, the band has always been one of the tightest, most joyful blues ensembles in the world. Currently an eightpiece unit led by guitarist Chris Vachon, the band has never sounded fresher or stronger. Singer DD Bastos brings her sweet and soulful vocals and adds another bright new dimension to the jazzy, jump-blues musical roots. Their winning combination of jump, swing, blues, R&B and soul remains their calling card, as does their ability to fill the dance floor. Along with bassist John Turner, trumpeter Chris Pratt, drummer Mike Coffey, keyboardist Jeff Ceasrine, baritone and tenor saxophonist Craig Thomas, and tenor and alto saxophonist Rich Lataille, Roomful keeps on rockin’ year after year!
Roomful of Blues, according to DownBeat magazine, “are in a class by themselves.” With their masterful combination of jumping, horn-heavy, hard-edged blues and R&B, it’s no wonder why the great Count Basie called them “the hottest blues band I’ve ever heard.” Since 1967, the group’s deeply rooted blend of swing, rock ‘n’ roll, jump, blues and soul has earned it five Grammy Award nominations and a slew of other accolades, including seven Blues Music Awards. With a non-stop performance schedule for over 55 years, Roomful of Blues has earned critical, popular and radio success and a legion of fans around the globe. including the prestigious DownBeat International Critics Poll for “Best Blues Band”.
