Teens ages 13-19 will explore how rotating gears, ratios, and repeating motion can generate intricate geometric artwork using Spirograph drawing tools. Participants can experiment with layered designs and adjust digital inputs to see how mathematical relationships affect the resulting patterns. Alongside physical drawing tools, participants can use interactive software to compare hand-drawn and computer-generated designs and follow a pattern’s transition from paper, to digital design, to fabrication on the library’s 3D printer and laser cutter. The materials are used during the program so participants can create satisfying designs at their own pace, whether casually experimenting or refining more complex compositions.

Space is limited to 10 participants ages 13-19, and online registration is required. Join us on Monday, June 8 from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. for a public reception for the exhibit, "In the Garden: Photographs from Sissinghurst and Great Dixter" by Gail Giarrusso, which will be on view from Monday, June 1 - Friday, July 31, 2026.

These large color photographs are from visits to Great Dixter and Sissinghurst gardens in East Sussex, England, in late Spring 2023 and Fall 2025. The images were made using vintage medium-format film cameras. Shot on rich Portra film with a shallow depth-of-field and the absence of sky, they give the viewer the feeling of being in among the lush flora.

Kids ages 8–12 will explore how gears and repeating patterns can create detailed geometric artwork using Spirograph drawing tools. By experimenting with different shapes, rotations, and colors, participants will discover how simple changes can produce dramatically different designs. Participants will also have the option to use digital tools to watch the same patterns transform on a computer, along with a demonstration showing how the design can help create a 3D object from the library’s 3D printer and laser cutter. The materials are used during the program so participants can freely experiment, follow their curiosity, and draw patterns ranging from simple spirals to intricate layered artwork.

Space is limited to 10 participants ages 8-12, and online registration is required. On June 6, 1944, the Allies undertook one of the most bold and significant operations of World War II — a massive amphibious and airborne assault in Normandy, marking the beginning of the end for Nazi oppression in Europe. Join us to honor this monumental day with an inspiring lecture by Dr. Spencer Jones, esteemed historian and author. The first 24 hours of Operation Overlord, codenamed "D-Day," saw a united effort of American, British and Canadian forces to overcome Hitler's formidable 'Atlantic Wall' and secure essential beachheads. Dr. Jones will unveil the strategic brilliance and steadfast bravery that marked this pivotal moment, propelling the Allies towards the liberation of Europe.
A viewing of the online lecture will be held in the Event Center at Abbot Public Library, followed by a discussion session.

By connecting LEDs, light bulbs, wires, and switches, participants will experiment with series and parallel circuits to see how different setups affect brightness and performance. The Snap Circuits sets are used during the program so participants can see why lights turn on or off based on their setup, not just the switches.

Dad's Day Key Rings & Cool Things with EOS Designs Studio

Adults ages 20 and up will get a behind-the-scenes look at how 3D design and printing work using Tinkercad and the library’s 3D printers. Library staff will demonstrate the process of creating a digital model, preparing it for printing, and turning the design into a physical object. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with simple design changes during the session or continue creating designs at home to submit to library staff for printing later.

In honor of the&nbsp;50th anniversary&nbsp;of the release of&nbsp;The Song Remains the Same, internationally acclaimed&nbsp;Lez Zeppelin&nbsp;-- the all-female quartet known for delivering the most powerful and authentic Led Zeppelin experience and the only band personally endorsed by Jimmy Page, himself, announces a special concert series celebrating the iconic 1976 film and its legendary soundtrack.

Lez Zeppelin is a phenomenon. Since their formation in 2004, the group has stunned audiences all over the world with the musicianship, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin.
