The Glass House

Enjoy a summer evening exploring The Glass House at your own pace! During your&nbsp;self-guided visit&nbsp;to the campus, you will have free access to the&nbsp;Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, and Sculpture Gallery.
On view this year in the Painting Gallery&nbsp;is&nbsp;Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One. Featuring newly commissioned paintings by Jackson in dialogue with works by Rauschenberg from the historic site’s permanent collection and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the exhibition contributes to a global slate of 2025–26 initiatives that reexamine Rauschenberg’s legacy, honoring his expansive creativity, spirit of curiosity, and commitment to change.
In the Sculpture Gallery,&nbsp;encounter&nbsp;the large-scale works by artists including John Chamberlain, Bruce Nauman, and Frank Stella that were collected by Philip Johnson and David Whitney.
Our expert educators will be available across the site to provide information and answer questions.
Please note that all guests&nbsp;will need to exit The Glass House property by 8 PM.

The Glass House, built between 1949 and 1995 by architect Philip Johnson, is a National Trust Historic Site located in New Canaan, Connecticut. The pastoral 49-acre landscape comprises fourteen structures, including the Glass House (1949), and features a permanent collection of 20th-century painting and sculpture, along with temporary exhibitions. Tours of the site are available in April through November and advance reservations are recquired. theglasshouse.org

The Town of Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular on Friday, July 10, at Darien High School. There is a rain date of July 11.
The event will feature face painting, courtyard games, food trucks, a performance by the Darien Community Band and a synchronized fireworks display. Food vendors are scheduled to include Supreme Poutine, Antonio's Pizza, Mister Softee, Fryborg and Kona Ice.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners. Face painting by Alicia and novelty glow items from Parade of Novelties will also be available.
Vehicle access to the event will be available only through the Noroton Avenue entrance. Gates to this entrance only will open at 6:30 p.m. and close promptly at 9 p.m. Fireworks are expected to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Resident parking passes cost $30 per vehicle, with a limit of one pass per household. <a href="https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/darienparksandrec/activity/search/detail/8224?onlineSiteId=0&amp;from_original_cui=true" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Passes go on sale June 15 at 10 a.m.</a> and will be available through July 7 or until sold out. Passes can also be purchased in person through the Darien Parks &amp; Recreation Department.&nbsp;
Parking passes will need to be picked up in person at the Parks &amp; Recreation Department at Town Hall starting on June 22 and must be picked up by July 7.
Walk-ins to the fireworks are welcome, and nonresidents may attend for free, though on-site parking will not be available.

Join Skillz It Up for a fun, five-day Braiding Camp!

Your child will learn the basics of braids and extension braiding through a five-session camp that aims to help participants dive into learning a new skill, developing life skills, and connecting with others along the way.&nbsp;
Why learn braiding? By learning these skills, families can save thousands of dollars over time by caring for their own hair. Braiding can also become a source of supplemental income or even a future career.&nbsp;

Campers will learn:&nbsp;
-How to properly care for hair before, during, and after it is braided&nbsp;
-How to add extensions to the hair&nbsp;
