Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

Old St. Andrew’s Church is pleased to announce its annual concert series, The Songs We Carry, a free season of live music featuring five Connecticut and New England ensembles. Designed as a welcoming gift to the wider community, the series will bring audiences together for evenings and afternoons of Celtic folk music, traditional New Orleans jazz, Latin rhythm, storytelling, seasonal celebration, and shared song.
The series is made possible through the generous support of Friends of Music, a group of Old St. Andrew’s members committed to sharing the joy of music as an expression of hospitality, ministry, and community connection.
Friday, September 25, 2026, 6:30 p.m. — The Jolly Beggars 
The season opens with The Jolly Beggars, a Connecticut-based Celtic folk ensemble known for spirited songs, traditional storytelling, tight harmonies, and lively reels and jigs. Their performance brings the richness of Irish and Scottish musical traditions to modern audiences in an engaging, family-friendly program.Admission and Reservations: All concerts are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be accepted, and light refreshments will be available. Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended. Location: All concerts will be held in the parish hall at Old St. Andrew’s Church, 59 Tariffville Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002. The building is accessible, and all are welcome.

Build your own scarecrow at this fun community event! Scarecrow Day is an annual fall tradition at the Simsbury Historical Society. Join us on the front lawn. Pick out your scarecrow frame, dress it, stuff it with straw, and make it uniquely yours with our provided materials. 
The event takes place from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Raindate is Sunday, September 20.&nbsp; Cost is $20 per scarecrow. Cash or credit. No advance registration required. Scarecrow Day 2026&nbsp;is sponsored by The Ethel Walker School. Jay Heritage Center

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators and the general public to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. We’re shaking things up this year and replacing our traditional Harvest Dinner with a festive, cocktail-style party at the North Barn. Expect farm-fresh light bites, gourmet wood-fired pizza featuring Holcomb Farm produce, artisanal gelato, beer, wine, and delicious farm-inspired cocktails &amp; mocktails.
