Told through movement, color, and sound,&nbsp;EUPHORIA is a playful dance featuring two half-human, half-owl creatures who explore their environment using movement and sound. Through a poetic metamorphosis, the creatures develop a new understanding of themselves and each other. Created for families with kids as young as five years old, choreographer&nbsp;Caroline Breton&nbsp;invites us to find wonder and joy in the world around us.
About Caroline Breton
Caroline Breton is a choreographer and performer. After studying philosophy, she joined the ERACM national school in Marseille, where she launched an artists’ collective and performed on national stages and at CDN theaters. After ten years working in theater with leading figures such as Robert Wilson, Yves-Noël Genod, Falk Richter and Christiane Jatahy, she pursued her career as a dancer, performing in shows by Marco Berrettini at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques de Seine-Saint-Denis, Théâtre National de la Danse de Chaillot Paris, Théâtre National de Rome and on tour in shows by Christophe Haleb, Simon Tanguy, Johanna Rocard, and Simone Forti. Three of these pieces were revived at the Watermill Center in New York in 2023.

Her conception of stage design reflects a sensual, sensitive, and humorous relationship with people and things. She surrounds herself with creators—visual artists, lighting designers, composers—who bring to life this naive, technical, and poetic approach to our shared ecosystems.

ABOUT THE BROADWAY MAGIC HOUR
Jim Vines&nbsp;and&nbsp;Carl Mercurio&nbsp;have each been performing magic all their lives, and they met 10 years ago when they were both booked to perform in the same magic-variety show in Coney Island. Jim and Carl became friends and started performing together in venues throughout the tristate area, eventually collaborating on a family magic show, which debuted in 2022 at the North Fork Community Theatre in Long Island.

Rich mentioned that while there were a variety of great magic shows in New York City, he had noticed something was missing—a big family-friendly event that could be enjoyed by kids, parents, friends, and anyone looking for a feel-good outing. Rich suggested that a family magic show in Midtown that brings families together for an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter, and wonder, could be a hit. Jim told Rich about the family magic show that he and Carl were already performing and mentioned that they had been looking for the perfect venue in which to regularly present the show. Rich was enthusiastic. It was meant to be! In a moment of inspiration, Jim and Carl came up with the name The Broadway Magic Hour. Now it was time to put it on the historic Broadway Comedy Club stage. The NYC debut of the Broadway Magic Hour took place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 - and to everyone's delight, the show quickly sold out. They followed up by adding more dates, and every show had a full house, proving that the city truly needed this show. A few months later, Time Out NY rated The Broadway Magic Hour as one of the Best Off-Broadway Shows for Kids &amp; Families, as well as one of the Best Magic Shows in NYC.

The Sixth Annual&nbsp;Visual Arts Exhibition&nbsp;at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park opens with an afternoon reception for the artists, curator, and visitors. The exhibition,&nbsp;Earthly Delights,&nbsp;presents artistic works evoking planets, plants, insects, and other biological forms erupting out of the mystical Kaatsbaan landscape. These unique pieces created by nine contemporary artists working predominantly in the Hudson Valley offer an inspiring alchemy of structure, form, beauty, and soul. The exhibition is curated by Hilary Greene.

This season,&nbsp;Aurora Robson&nbsp;returns with a tree-climbing, recycled-plastic installation new to Kaatsbaan. Joining her,&nbsp;Ian McMahon’s barn-mounted geometric relief, and&nbsp;Portia Munson’s mystical banner are six new artists:&nbsp;Thea Berman’s figurative oils and&nbsp;Sharon Broit’s biological abstracts in the gallery;&nbsp;Laura Battle’s esoteric ceramic clouds,&nbsp;Kris Perry’s machine creatures, and a spiritual carving by&nbsp;Nadia Yaron&nbsp;on the grounds; and sensorial videos by&nbsp;Virginia L. Montgomery&nbsp;mounted in the Stanford White Barn. In addition, we are honored to continue to exhibit two of&nbsp;Gaston Lachaise’s world-renowned bronzes on long-term loan by the Lachaise Foundation.

gaudanse&nbsp;was selected from a pool of artists to show work for the 40th anniversary of the festival, which will bring together some of the most compelling contemporary voices in experimental dance.
Imani Gaudin&nbsp;is an interdisciplinary dance and performing artist. She is the founder and artistic director of gaudanse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding accessibility, sustainability, and wellness-based arts practices for underserved communities of performing artists. As a performer, she currently is a movement artist with Shamel Pitts’s TRIBE. Her work has been commissioned by Baryshnikov Arts, Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance, and Churchtown Dairy. Additionally, her work has received support from the New York State Council on the Arts, National Performance Network, and New Orleans Jazz &amp; Heritage Foundation. Imani has been a resident artist at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, New Dance Alliance, Baryshnikov Arts, and Pepatián in partnership with BAAD!. In 2025, she was named a Gambit 40 under 40 Honoree, premiered her first self-produced evening length work&nbsp;nanibu&nbsp;(an interdisciplinary dance-based play), and made her international debut with her work&nbsp;mamihlapinatapai, in Paris, France.

Incorporated in 1989, New Dance Alliance (NDA) is a performing arts nonprofit. Its mission, from the earliest days, has been to support emerging experimental movement-based artists. A structured dinner experience with thematic storytelling, the dinner unfolds with a specific theme, drawn from conversations and site visits with community members. The toasts celebrate moments, small and large, or people in the teller's life. By listening to, and sharing, meaningful stories from each other’s lives, participants wind up celebrating one another. They see each other’s humanity, what matters to each person, and feel valued as their stories are heard and toasted. Rikud Movement Studio

Rikud Studio&nbsp;announced today their 2026 summer camp offerings, running nine weeks from June 15 through August 14. The studio is located in Prospect Heights, at 607 Vanderbilt Avenue, reimagining dance education through street and club dance and challenging the long-standing assumption that ballet must be the starting point of children's dance education. Rikud Studio focuses exclusively on street and club dance forms including breaking, hip-hop, and house. Located roughly a ten-minute walk from Barclays Center, the studio has enrolled more than 165 students in its first two months and now offers 30 weekly classes serving children, teens, and adults. Rikud operates on an intentionally alternative model with no mirrors, no ballet, and no recitals.
Camp hours are 8:30AM-3PM, with extended day options available from 3-5PM for additional charge. Three and six month payment plans are available to parents with a $1,000 deposit; payments can also be made weekly with a $350 deposit. The Rikud Studio&nbsp;Summer Camp&nbsp;is rooted in street and club dance culture. Each week, campers rotate through breaking, hip hop, and house, alongside visual arts experiences inspired by graffiti and movement.
Campers are grouped by age for developmentally aligned programming:

Ages 5–7: Play-Based Immersion
Our younger dancers build foundations through rhythm stations, mini cyphers, movement games, and obstacle courses. Dance labs introduce breaking, hip hop, and house through playful technique and guided exploration. Creative blocks include graffiti art, name design, and street-art inspired projects. Outdoor time features playground visits, sprinklers, and neighborhood mini-walks. Afternoons include choice-based exploration in dance, art, or building activities, ending each day in a closing circle.
Ages 8–14: Cultural Lab + Skill Development
Older campers deepen technique through focused training blocks in breaking, house, and hip hop. They rotate through choreography lab, freestyle development, groove drills, and conditioning. Cultural sessions explore the roots of street and club dance, while art + design labs investigate letter structure, tag evolution, and creative expression. Neighborhood immersions and guest workshops expand their understanding of movement within the community. The day culminates in crew rehearsal, mentorship, and battle strategy.

Rikud does not position itself as an authority on hip-hop culture, but rather as a hub and convener. The studio’s location places it in proximity to many of hip-hop’s most historically rich neighborhoods. Clinton Hill was the childhood neighborhood of The Notorious B.I.G., while nearby Bedford-Stuyvesant’s is the childhood home of Jay-Z. Public spaces such as Prospect Park and Fort Greene Park have long served as gathering places for dancers.
Rikud’s summer camp is a collaboration with HereNow Cultural Space in Bed-Stuyvesant. They will connect campers directly to the area’s cultural history through neighborhood tours, graffiti arts, hip-hop, breaking, and DJ instruction. Rikud serves longtime Brooklyn residents, young families, and newcomers. The studio also hosts breaking battles and community dance events throughout the year, including an upcoming kids breaking battle in partnership with the New York Collective and a family dance party with local-legends Saint James Joy.

Caila trained for over twenty years and worked professionally as a dancer, with credits including Nicki Minaj,&nbsp;So You Think You Can Dance, Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, and performances with leading Bollywood and R&amp;B artists. Before launching Rikud, Caila spent more than a decade in finance and philanthropy at Goldman Sachs, Lincoln Center, The Jewish Museum, Spoleto Festival, and the Anne Bass Family Foundation. She holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (500RYT). Caila is a Brooklyn mom who loves her community—and she loves to teach.
About Andrew Carter (aka Dr. Ew)
Andrew Carter, known to students as “Dr. Ew,” is a highly respected dance educator with teaching experience at Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, Peridance, and several K–12 schools and youth programs across New York City. Andrew is trained in breakdancing, popping, waving, gliding, and foundational hip-hop movement. He brings more than a decade of professional training and performance experience to every class, with a teaching style that is fun, structured, and confidence-building. Andrew serves as both the master teacher, setting pedagogy for all breaking and hiphop classes, and as a creative and strategic advisor.

In&nbsp;Circle of Apathy, the new dance project from House of DOV featuring live music from&nbsp;Family Junket, the ensemble&nbsp;explores the cycles of growth and disintegration intrinsic to nature and&nbsp;works together to build physical structures which increase in precarity as the group strives toward expansion.

Family Junket’s five musicians blare dense soul with moments of ambience: voices wail, altered by a vocal pedal; saxophone, flute and violin harmonize over precomposed loops; djembe, drum kit and percussion punctuate echoing acoustic piano. House of DOV’s seven dancers push against seemingly immovable forces, find new hand and footholds, and creep forward like a vine up a brick wall. A woman walks through an increasingly dense wood until the brush closes around her entirely. When all paths disappear from sight, a figure steps blindly forward, trusting that there will be a stepping stone beneath their foot.

Family Junket&nbsp;is the collective voice of Chicago-based musicians who are also social workers, teachers, farmers, dancers, writers, painters, photographers, and performance artists coming together to create healing spaces, community, and parties. As a band, they play lush, unpredictable compositions featuring horns, strings, percussion, vocal interplay, and an improvisational spirit. Their debut album,&nbsp;Did you tell the bees?, released May 2025 with features in the&nbsp;Chicago Tribune,&nbsp;Chicago Reader, and&nbsp;City Cast Chicago&nbsp;(WBEZ).
House of DOV&nbsp;is a movement-based performance ensemble from Chicago, IL, led by Drew Lewis. Our namesake is Benjamin Dov Lebowitz, Drew’s ancestor who immigrated to America from Russia in the early 1900’s, escaping pogroms. The ensemble exists as a vehicle to explore Drew’s own creative work and heritage, and to provide talented yet under-represented Chicago dancers with opportunities for paid work in performance and practice. Individuals apply through a competitive review process, and over 150 residencies are awarded annually, making Ragdale one of the largest residency programs in the United States. Each year artists are welcomed at various stages of their careers and spend up to 18 days living and working on campus alongside a supportive and diverse cohort of their peers. We also provide ways for people from broad backgrounds to engage with the organization through themed residencies, creative sabbaticals, arts education programs for teens and events that connect Ragdale with the public, including the Ragdale Ring Summer Performance Series.

The program pairs&nbsp;Aaron Copland&nbsp;and&nbsp;Erich Wolfgang Korngold&nbsp;— two composers living and working almost congruently, one American-born, one an immigrant from Vienna — alongside New York Premieres by Reinaldo Moya, Frederick Piket, Mark Carlson, and Steven Ward, and Libby Larsen's&nbsp;This Unbearable Stillness, a song cycle celebrating the everyday lives of Arab American women in its NYC Premiere. Damien Sneed's luminous spiritual arrangements provide the thread connecting the evening's two halves, from Paul Laurence Dunbar's poetry to Langston Hughes's timeless&nbsp;I Dream a World, scored for string quartet and piano — an opening night that asks what it means to dream in America, and who gets to dream.

ABOUT THE CHELSEA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Chelsea Music Festival celebrates great music by convening world-leading musicians &amp; artists in the performing, culinary, and visual arts for an international audience. The Festival invites artists, composers, and performers to collaborate in pursuit of new perspectives in artistic expression. Inspired by its Chelsea roots, the Festival reflects the creativity of one of New York City's most dynamic neighborhoods. Programs span musical genres ranging from classical to contemporary to jazz with a special emphasis on Festival commissions by composers whose works are not in the traditional western canon. In addition, the Festival hosts an online library of recordings so music enthusiasts, artists, and students alike can explore unique interpretations of classical, jazz, and contemporary works via high-quality videos of world-class performances.
Since 2010, the Festival has established itself as a critically-acclaimed, accessible and interactive gateway to chamber music in non-traditional concert spaces such as art galleries, public squares, schools, and churches. Programming includes concerts, lectures, exhibitions, family events, and free outreach performances. In 2020, the Festival inaugurated its&nbsp;Online Encores&nbsp;and&nbsp;Online Originals&nbsp;YouTube series;&nbsp;Online Encores&nbsp;presents highlights from Festival archives while&nbsp;Online Originals&nbsp;presents new performances and recordings. We are proud to give emerging voices, particularly those of women and people of color, a stage and work to build an audience and intimate community to support a new generation of musicians, composers, and artists.

Join Festival Artistic Directors&nbsp;Melinda Lee Masur&nbsp;and&nbsp;Ken-David Masur&nbsp;as they sit down with&nbsp;Bill Barclay&nbsp;— director, writer, and producer of Concert Theater Works — for an intimate Sunday brunch conversation at the stylish&nbsp;City Winery Bistro at Pier 57 in Chelsea.

Over a curated, Mark Twain-inspired, American menu, the three collaborators offer guests a behind-the-scenes look at the making of&nbsp;Copland &amp; Twain&nbsp;and the creative vision driving the 2026 Festival. Chelsea Music Festival celebrates great music by convening world-leading musicians &amp; artists in the performing, culinary, and visual arts for an international audience. The Festival invites artists, composers, and performers to collaborate in pursuit of new perspectives in artistic expression. America/Beautiful&nbsp;is pianist Min Kwon's project — born during the pandemic — which commissioned variations on “America the Beautiful” from over 70 composers across the country, ranging in age from 21 to 96, and asking a single urgent question:&nbsp;What is America — is it beautiful, was it ever, or will it ever be?&nbsp;Selections will include New York Premieres by Samuel Adler, Stewart Copeland, Fred Hersch, Kenji Bunch, Libby Larsen, Timo Andres and others; each composer brings a radically different perspective on the American experience. Together, these variations form a powerful collection of stories as colorful and diverse as America’s people and landscapes. Chelsea Music Festival celebrates great music by convening world-leading musicians &amp; artists in the performing, culinary, and visual arts for an international audience. The Verona Quartet takes the stage at the intimate Poet's House for an evening that spans centuries and cultures, from Philip Glass's introspective&nbsp;String Quartet No. 2 Company&nbsp;— inspired by a Samuel Beckett novel — to George Walker's deeply personal&nbsp;Lyric for String Quartet, a lament for his enslaved grandmother. Another important piece featured is&nbsp;MoonStrike, a dramatic 25-minute work by Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, weaving together American Indian legends and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing. The program closes with a swinging&nbsp;Twenties Tunes Jazz Suite, arranged by Peter Myers, bringing the roaring sounds of the Cotton Club.

Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, known for its optimistic ethos, was formed in 1998. Since its inception, it has demonstrated a commitment to education, operating with the philosophy and programming that everyone can join the dance. Incorporating dance and story into the film medium has been a consistent practice along with creating original programming for the stage. The repertory has earned praise for its humor, musicality, stylistic diversity, and accessibility. During Upstate Arts Weekend, Kaatsbaan is holding Open Hours for the 2026 Visual Art Exhibition,&nbsp;Earthly Delights. The artistic works in the exhibition evoke planets, plants, insects, and other biological forms that erupt out of the mystical Kaatsbaan landscape. These unique pieces created by nine contemporary artists working predominantly in the Hudson Valley offer an inspiring alchemy of structure, form, beauty, and soul. The exhibition is curated by&nbsp;Hilary Greene.
This season,&nbsp;Aurora Robson&nbsp;returns with a tree-climbing, recycled-plastic installation new to Kaatsbaan. Joining her,&nbsp;Ian McMahon’s barn-mounted geometric relief, and&nbsp;Portia Munson’s mystical banner are six new artists:&nbsp;Thea Berman’s figurative oils and&nbsp;Sharon Broit’s biological abstracts in the gallery;&nbsp;Laura Battle’s esoteric ceramic clouds,&nbsp;Kris Perry’s machine creatures, and a spiritual carving by&nbsp;Nadia Yaron&nbsp;on the grounds; and sensorial videos by&nbsp;Virginia L. Montgomery&nbsp;mounted in the Stanford White Barn. In addition, we are honored to continue to exhibit two of&nbsp;Gaston Lachaise’s world-renowned bronzes on long-term loan by the Lachaise Foundation.
The exhibition is open to the public June 6–October 31, 2026, during business hours and event days.

In Circle of Apathy, the new dance project from House of DOV featuring live music from Family Junket, the ensemble explores the cycles of growth and disintegration intrinsic to nature and works together to build physical structures which increase in precarity as the group strives toward expansion.
“Through creative process, we’ve sought to understand our own place within the greater ecology of our landscape, and to experience the human body as a metaphor and microcosm of the natural world,” says Drew Lewis, creative director of House of DOV.
Family Junket’s five musicians blare dense soul with moments of ambience: voices wail, altered by a vocal pedal; saxophone, flute and violin harmonize over precomposed loops; djembe, drum kit and percussion punctuate echoing acoustic piano. House of DOV’s seven dancers push against seemingly immovable forces, find new hand and footholds, and creep forward like a vine up a brick wall. A woman walks through an increasingly dense wood until the brush closes around her entirely. When all paths disappear from sight, a figure steps blindly forward, trusting that there will be a stepping stone beneath their foot.

Family Junket is the collective voice of Chicago-based musicians who are also social workers, teachers, farmers, dancers, writers, painters, photographers, and performance artists coming together to create healing spaces, community, and parties. As a band, they play lush, unpredictable compositions featuring horns, strings, percussion, vocal interplay, and an improvisational spirit. Their debut album, Did you tell the bees?, released May 2025 with features in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, and City Cast Chicago (WBEZ).
House of DOV is a movement-based performance ensemble from Chicago, IL, led by Drew Lewis. Our namesake is Benjamin Dov Lebowitz, Drew’s ancestor who immigrated to America from Russia in the early 1900’s, escaping pogroms. Summer Mix, an accessible, entertaining program of dance, combines the old with the new, a visual playlist bringing together favorites from the repertory with a premiere. The mix includes joyful excerpts from the Company’s acclaimed evening-length theatrical dance&nbsp;Encore, which premiered at New York City’s Joyce SoHo in 2007 and has never fallen out of the repertory. Each performance will be followed by a brief conversation with the Company, offering audiences the opportunity to engage directly with the dancers and choreographer.
“The dancers can’t help but smile,” wrote&nbsp;The New Yorker&nbsp;reviewing the show. "It's great to see imaginative dancing to music like this," wrote&nbsp;The Village Voice. Backstage&nbsp;called the work "a riotous piece of razzle-dazzle entertainment."
The new work,&nbsp;Flashpoint, was developed during an invitation-only residency at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC during the summer or 2024.&nbsp;Flashpoint&nbsp;explores the contours of relationships, the push and pull of harmony and strife within our lives, and the lines separating intimacy from violence. The dance traces the contours of relationships, exposing moments that pivot on a dime and ignite into conflict, a metaphor for the tensions and drama playing out in our world.
Like a sultry summer storm, the program moves through darkness and sun, turbulence and clear skies, all anchored by the Company's signature blend of provocative choreography and charismatic performance: virtuosic and pedestrian movement, intimate partnering, a playful musical spirit, and vivid expression.&nbsp;Summer Mix&nbsp;has something for everyone, the program that summer calls for!

Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, known for its optimistic ethos, was formed in 1998. Since its inception, it has demonstrated a commitment to education, operating with the philosophy and programming that everyone can join the dance. Incorporating dance and story into the film medium has been a consistent practice along with creating original programming for the stage. Festival, which&nbsp;Culturebot&nbsp;reviewed as “profoundly chilling,” noting Daniel’s performance as “masterful.” Also in 2025,&nbsp;Framing Ménerbes,&nbsp;a film created by the Company in Provence, premiered in France, followed by its US premiere at the Dolby Screening Room in Manhattan. Since then, the film has screened in theaters in Upstate New York—Binghamton, Ithaca, and Rochester—and in Ann Arbor, MI and Vancouver, WA. The film will screen again in Ithaca this June 17. One of Coward’s rarely produced early dramas, This Was a Man explores themes that would come to define much of his work: social performance, morality, jealousy, repression, and the fragility beneath upper-class sophistication. The play follows Edward Churt, a successful painter whose carefully composed world begins to fracture as he confronts his wife Carol’s infidelity. While Edward attempts to maintain an air of elegant detachment, his closest life-long friend becomes determined to force a reckoning that threatens to upend them all.
Sharp, psychologically probing, and surprisingly modern, This Was a Man asks enduring questions about masculinity, emotional repression, and the limits of civility. What happens when good manners become a mask for pain? Is it nobler to ignore betrayal or confront it directly? And what, ultimately, does it mean to be a man?
“The play was first mentioned to me by my godmother Hermione Gingold, for whom we named our company”, says Gingold Artistic Director David Staller. “She had begun her stage career with Noel Coward when they were both children. Writing this play, and its initial rejection, altered the trajectory of his entire life, she explained. We’ve determined to share the play with New York for its first hearing in 100 years!”
This special addition to Project Shaw continues Gingold Theatrical Group’s long-standing commitment to reviving provocative and underappreciated theatrical works that resonate deeply with contemporary audiences. Vangeline Theater/New York Butoh Institute has partnered with ELF and the legendary New York artist Machine Dazzle to create MAN WOMAN, a collaboration between Butoh dancers Akihito Ichihara (Sankai Juku) and Vangeline.

Ichihara and Vangeline have developed MAN WOMAN during New York residencies at the New York Butoh Institute, Chelsea Factory, Monira Foundation, and Mercury Store in 2024.

Machine Dazzle has created original costumes for this 60-minute piece and Ray Barragan Sweeten has composed the music.

MAN WOMAN is a 60-minute interdisciplinary Butoh duet about the search for intimacy and the complexities of human connection. Choreographed and performed by acclaimed Butoh artists Akihito Ichihara (Japan) and Vangeline (U.S.), the work draws inspiration from the seminal 1960 photo book Man and Woman by Japanese photographer Eikoh Hosoe, which featured Tatsumi Hijikata—the founder of Butoh—and his wife, Motofuji.
 
Ichihara and Vangeline each come from different Butoh backgrounds; Ichihara from Sankai Juku, or what could be considered “classical” Butoh, while Vangeline’s 20 years of Butoh expertise was informed by her prior experience as a jazz and burlesque dancer. The artists imagine this encounter as cultural cross-pollination: the creation of something new and original choreographically, challenging aesthetic expectations and carrying Butoh into the 21st century.

Lung function screenings using spirometry, a simple, noninvasive test that measures how much air you can breathe in and out, and how efficiently your lungs are working, will be offered to interested attendees.
