Our Culinary Student Pop-Up Lunch Cafe is back! There will be two lunch service windows:&nbsp;Wednesday through Friday on September 16th-18th and again 23rd-25th, 11:30 AM to 1 PM. This tradition marks the culmination of our current adult culinary job training cohort in Petaluma, with every dish on the menu inspired and shaped by the students themselves. It's a chance for our trainees to put their new skills to the test working the line in a real service setting - and for you to taste what they've been working on and cheer them on as they graduate into their next chapter.
Consider treating your whole team or company to lunch those weeks - it's a great way to support our students while feeding your crew! There’s limited space to eat onsite, so please plan to pick up, take it with you, and enjoy.

Join us for a cooking class with Almir Da Fonseca, award-winning Executive Chef and Culinary CIA instructor , and discover the flavors of Brazil right here in Sonoma County! 
This hands-on, collaborative cooking class will last 2.5 hours, with time to enjoy your meal together at the end. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or just starting out, our classes off<a href="https://www.chefalmirdafonseca.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">er a fun, engaging learning</a> environment, while raising funds for Sonoma Family Meal’s free culinary job training and food-security programs.

<h2>ABOUT THE CHEF:</h2>
Chef Almir Da Fonseca is a native of Brazil's Southeast Region and an award-winning executive chef with more than four decades in the food service industry. His path began in marine biology before his passion led him to the professional kitchen.
After his apprenticeship, he built a career as an executive chef across restaurant and hotel kitchens before moving into corporate, private, and winery catering. He owned and operated his own restaurant, and continues to run his catering and gastronomy company, Flavor Source Fonte Sabor.
He found equal purpose in culinary education, teaching at the California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu International, and, for nearly two decades (!), The Culinary Institute of America, where he is a devoted professor of culinary arts.
For years he has researched the regional cuisines of his home country, sharing that work in print, at<a href="https://www.chefalmirdafonseca.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"> </a><a href="https://www.chefalmirdafonseca.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.chefalmirdafonseca.com</a><a href="https://www.chefalmirdafonseca.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">, and now in his award</a>-winning book, The Brazil Project.

Guests will enjoy globally-inspired bites prepared by our talented culinary training alumni, vote to crown the Culinary Champion, and sit down to a feast by SFM’s own Catering with a Cause, complete with live music, local wine &amp; beer, craft cocktails, and more—all while helping us raise $240,000 to expand workforce development and food security programming at both Petaluma and Unity Kitchens.
