The Mid Island Y JCC invites adults to get creative at the Evening One Stroke Painting Class: Daisy Tray Project on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Participants will learn the One Stroke painting technique while creating a decorative daisy tray. The class will cover how to blend colors on the brush, create soft flower petals, and add finishing details to complete a beautiful, functional piece. The finished tray (13.38" x 10.24" x 2.56") is perfect for displaying at home or giving as a gift.
This workshop is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced painters looking to refine their technique. Registration closes on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The fee is $59, with a discounted rate of $54 for members.

The Mid Island Y JCC invites adults to a creative hands-on art workshop, Batik Inspired Challah Cover, taking place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.
Participants will create a colorful Batik inspired challah cover using liquid paint on pre-prepared cotton fabric. Attendees may choose one of two design options in advance, a Shabbat themed design or a High Holiday themed design.
This program is designed for adults 18 and older and is part of the UJA on the Way eligible programs. Space is limited to 14 participants. The cost is $40, with taxes waived.

The Mid Island Y JCC invites adults to join the Daytime Beginner Mah Jongg Series this September, a five-session course designed for those new to the game.
The series runs Tuesdays from September 1 through September 29, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Participants will learn the basic rules and terminology of Mah Jongg, along with how to play and win the game, plus foundational strategies and tactics.
The course will be taught by Lorie Siegel, who will guide participants through the learning process in a fun and supportive environment. This program is open to adults 25 and older. 
Pricing is $165 for non-members (fitness included), with a member discount available at $140.
Participants are required to bring a 2026 Mah Jongg card, available for purchase through the National Mah Jongg League or at local card retailers.
