Artist Daniel Callahan presents a free, interactive workshop around his signature practice of “MassQing"
In this powerful and personal 2-hour workshop, participants will learn about Daniel Callahan’s “MassQing” technique, which uses the human face as a canvas and facepaint as a tool for reflection and transformation. Inspired by global body-marking traditions, artist <a href="https://www.danielcallahan.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Daniel Callahan</a> will guide participants in designing and painting their own “MassQs” to explore their identity, story, and creative self-expression.
Great for all ages, family friendly (children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian).
Free; RSVP recommended as space is limited.
MassQing uses hypoallergenic, water-based children’s face paint. It is made for sensitive skin, and is 100% washable. Brushes will be sanitized.
This program is funded by a grant from the Fellowes Athenaeum trust Fund of the Boston Public Library
Accessibility: This program is wheelchair accessible. The Roxbury Public Library is located in Nubian Square and is accessible by public transportation. Free street parking is also available. Join Dr. Katherine Gergen Barnett, family medicine physician, nationally recognized health equity leader, and trusted voice on the future of American health care, for a powerful and reflective talk on what hospice teaches us about caring for one another when it matters most. Drawing on decades of leadership in whole-person care, equity, and health system reform, as well as her personal experience with Good Shepherd Community Care during her father, Commentator and former White House Communications Director,&nbsp;David Gergen's&nbsp;final year, Dr. Gergen Barnett will explore how compassion, trust, and community can transform the patient and family experience and guide us toward a more humane and just health care system.
