There are tiny, fuzzy little workers out there keeping our world blooming. This Sunday, we are doing something kind for them.
Spend the day creating, learning, and slowing down while you make something with your hands and do a little good in the world.

Drop in between 2 and 4 for pollinator crafts.
We will be making:
Bee water cups to help bees safely drink
 Pollinator wreaths to take home
We will also be learning fun bee facts along the way about how they help us and we can help them. 

Stay for Paint Night from 4 to 7.
We will be painting a heart shaped bee canvas. It is beginner friendly and relaxed.

There will also be light games and coloring sheets for all ages throughout the day.

This is a beginner friendly, family friendly event. Children will be asked to remain seated so everyone can have a good time crafting.

Looking for open mic nights, live music, or fun things to do in Essex MD? Join us every Monday from 6-9 pm for our Open Mic &amp; Community Jam at Kestrel Cafe.

Whether you sing, play an instrument, or just want to relax and enjoy the vibe, this is a welcoming, low-pressure space to connect through music. Come solo, bring friends, or just stop in and see what unfolds.

We start the evening with a few open mic spots at 6 pm, giving performers a chance to share a song, poem, or piece. After that, we shift into a relaxed community jam where musicians can play together, experiment, and build something in the moment.

All skill levels are welcome. You don’t need to be a professional, and you don’t need to have it all figured out. This is about showing up, trying something new, and being part of a creative, supportive environment.

Acoustic and low-volume instruments work best for the space. Singers, guitarists, percussionists, fiddlers, mandolin players, and more are all welcome.

Not ready to perform? That’s okay. Many people come just to listen, sip tea, and enjoy a night of live music in a cozy, creative setting.
While you’re here, take time to explore our walls filled with local artists and anime-inspired artwork, along with handmade goods and unique pieces available for purchase.

Had a long day? Come in, slow down, and make something small that matters.

We’re celebrating Earth Day in a simple, creative way. Stop by and spend a little time making something with your hands, whether that’s a colorful ocean fish, a handprint tree, a silly cardboard creature, or something completely your own. This is a space to play, explore, and let your creativity wander.

Everything is made using recycled and simple materials, turning everyday things into something fun and meaningful. Along the way, we’ll be sharing little facts about animals, plants, the ocean, and the world around us, just small reminders of how connected everything is.

This is a drop in activity, so you can stay for a few minutes or settle in and take your time. Come by yourself, bring a friend, or stop in with your kids and make something together.

All ages welcome.

Stitch &amp; B*tch is a relaxed, come as you are gathering for needle and fiber artists of all kind to sit together, work on their own projects, and enjoy real conversation and community.

In this class, you’ll design your own wearable acrylic butterfly wings using vibrant markers. Then, with a light spray of water, you’ll blend and transform your colors into soft, flowing, one-of-a-kind designs. Each set of wings becomes a unique piece of wearable art.
Mrs. Jen is beloved in our community for her gentle guidance, creativity, and ability to make every artist feel confident and supported. She meets you where you are, whether you’re a first-time creator or just looking for a relaxing, creative escape.
This class is perfect for kids, adults, and families looking for a fun DIY craft, art class, or creative activity in Essex MD. No experience is needed, just come ready to play with color, explore, and have fun.

Kestrel Cafe Anime Club is happening.
We want to get to know you, your fandoms, your favorite shows, your hot takes, your comfort anime, your unhinged opinions.
We’ll be watching anime, talking tropes, fanfics, Gundams, manga, and all the things that live rent-free in your brain.
Come hang out, be nerdy, be a little weird, and connect with people who get it. Lurkers are absolutely welcome.

You’ll be in a space that feels like an artist alley, with work from artists who’ve been at Otakon, Katsucon, and MAGFest.
We’ve got affordable snacks and cozy treats, and long tables perfect for arguing OTPs, sharing Hello Panda, and finally taking that HG/MG Deathscythe out of the box and bringing that Gundam to life.

No gatekeeping. No pressure. Just good people and shared interests in a judgment-free space.

We look forward to meeting you and hearing all about what makes anime special to you.

Join us at Kestrel Cafe for a cozy, hands-on animal experience with Creatures Great &amp; Small.
Meet a variety of animals up close, from soft and furry to scaly and surprising, with guided introductions and safe, respectful interaction throughout the event.
Guests will also take part in critter-inspired crafts, including building their own creatures and designing a custom button to wear home.
This is a relaxed, structured experience for all ages, perfect for families, friends, and anyone feeling a little curious.
