OPEN AUDITIONS - A GREAT FAMILY OPPORTUNITY
Curtain Call, Stamford, is holding open auditions for their October/November production of the classic musical, OLIVER. All roles are open for young artists and adults...a great chance to share the stage with your child, spouse or the whole family.&nbsp;Also, a great way for newcomers to the area to make new friends. Auditions for young artists age 10 through 16 will be Saturday morning, August 15: 10am to 12 noon.&nbsp;Auditions for adults (and anyone who can't make it Saturday morning) will be held Monday &amp; Tuesday, August 17 and 18, 7pm to 10pm.All auditions, rehearsals and performance will&nbsp;be at The Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Ave, Stamford, CT 06905.
Curtain Call is Stamford's longest running and only, year-round nonprofit producing theatre. Curtain Call was voted Fairfield County's BEST LOCAL THEATRE GROUP ten years running in the Annual Readers' Poll of the Fairfield County Weekly and has received similar “BEST OF” awards from Stamford Magazine and StamfordPlus magazine for 2008 through 2023. Curtain Call received The Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2011 and the ACE Award for Excellence in Arts &amp; Culture from the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County in 2016. On view this year in the Painting Gallery&nbsp;is&nbsp;Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One. Featuring newly commissioned paintings by Jackson in dialogue with works by Rauschenberg from the historic site’s permanent collection and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the exhibition contributes to a global slate of 2025–26 initiatives that reexamine Rauschenberg’s legacy, honoring his expansive creativity, spirit of curiosity, and commitment to change.
In the Sculpture Gallery,&nbsp;encounter&nbsp;the large-scale works by artists including John Chamberlain, Bruce Nauman, and Frank Stella that were collected by Philip Johnson and David Whitney.
Our expert educators will be available across the site to provide information and answer questions.

The 44th Annual WICC Surfside Hotel <a href="https://www.bluefishtournament.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth</a> returns to Long Island Sound on Saturday, August 29, with fishing officially beginning at 12:01 a.m. Anglers from Connecticut and New York will compete for bragging rights—and a $25,000 grand prize awarded to the tournament's largest bluefish.
The weekend-long tournament features more than $40,000 in total cash prizes, including:
<ul>
 <li>1st Place: $25,000</li>
 <li>2nd Place: $7,500</li>
 <li>3rd Place: $2,500</li>
 <li>Smaller cash prizes awarded through 20th Place</li>
 <li>Port Prizes awarded for the heaviest bluefish weighed at each official Connecticut and New York weigh station (see below for complete list of weigh stations)</li>
</ul>
Young anglers, 17 and under, will also have the chance to win big. The tournament will award a $1,000 cash prize to the largest bluefish caught by a youth angler. Second and third place youth winners will receive $100 gift cards.
