Tommy (Roger Daltrey) is a “deaf, dumb and blind boy” whose life’s journey goes in many different directions. From sadistic cousins to Marilyn Monroe-worshiping healers, acid queens to pinball wizards, Tommy meets a lot of characters on his way to becoming a messiah… and they come bearing songs. An unruly rock opera for the post-hippie age, Ken Russell’s adaptation of The Who’s iconic album is genuinely out of this world. Featuring an all-star cast including Oliver Reed, Ann-Margaret, and Jack Nicholson, with rockstars Elton John, Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, and more putting their own spin on classic songs, Tommy is a true time capsule. Russell’s flamboyant sensibility pairs perfectly with the album, Tommy, and his kaleidoscopic, acid-soaked visuals do not disappoint.

Two formerly married actors (Kathryn Grayson and Howard Keel) are forced back into contact with each other when they’re cast in a production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Will their history completely derail the show, or will they find a way to put their differences aside until, at least, opening night? Or could they even start to like each other again? A bright technicolor confection, Kiss Me Kate brings The Taming of the Shrew into the age of the MGM musical, complete with music by the one and only Cole Porter. This film brings laughs a-plenty, with gorgeous sets and costumes—and keep your eyes peeled for a young Bob Fosse in one of his first screen roles!

With its timeless Irving Berlin musical numbers—including its iconic title track—White Christmas is a holiday classic for a reason. In scenes shimmering with superstar performances, we watch as Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye join forces, dancingly and romantically, with sister-act Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen to save a struggling Vermont ski-resort owned by Dean Jagger’s retired Major General. Directed by Hollywood vet Michael Curtiz (Casablanca, The Adventures of Robin Hood), White Christmas is chock-full of memorable moments and infectious tunes, wrapping the holiday season into one perfect Hollywood package that’s sure to put anyone in the Christmas spirit.
