As the Midterm Elections draw near, voters are thinking about how to vote and engage with the politics of our day. Christians in particular have had a critical role in recent elections. How has history and theology shaped their decisions in the past and what can it teach us today? 
Third Space Asian America is happy to be hosting a lecture on "Christians and Politics" this coming Saturday, September 26th at 5 pm at the Livingston Senior/Community Center. The speaker will be Dr. Kellen Funk, Professor of Law at Columbia University and an Elder at Stone Hill Church in Princeton. He has his PhD in American History from Princeton University and his JD from Yale Law School. Time for Q&amp;A and a light community meal will follow the lecture. Women’s Federation for World Peace and Alliance Partners Celebrate International Day of Peace at Teaneck Peace Festival
TEANECK, N.J. — Under the theme "Plant a Seed for Peace, Watch It Grow at Home," the New Jersey chapter of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) invited the Peace Starts With Me Alliance of New Jersey to celebrate the International Day of Peace this past weekend.
The Peace Starts With Me Alliance partnered with the Peace Islands Institute NJ to participate in its annual Peace Festival held at Milton A. Votee Park in Teaneck, New Jersey. The alliance brought several of its signature elements and vibrant community contributions to the multicultural celebration:
<ul>
 <li>Bridge of Peace Ceremony: Offering WFWP's signature reconciliation ceremony, where individuals from different cultural or religious backgrounds cross a symbolic bridge. Participants make a conscious choice to move from being observers to active partners with a shared promise: to celebrate each other’s heritage, protect each other’s dignity, and weave individual threads into one unbreakable tapestry of peace.</li>
 <li>The Peace Starts With Me Choir &amp; Cultural Performances: Providing uplifting musical performances alongside diverse cultural presentations representing Korea, Japan, China/Taiwan, Turkey, and Ghana.</li>
</ul>
Partner Organizations and Interactive Booths
Throughout the festival, affiliated organizations hosted interactive booths, activities, and initiatives to engage attendees of all ages:
<ul>
 <li>Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU): Focused on the vision of "One Family Under God," emphasizing that all people share a divine spiritual origin and are meant to live as one global family. FFWPU invited New Jersey's diverse communities to focus on what unites us, promoting interfaith friendship, mutual respect, and strong families as the primary "School of Love." At their booth, FFWPU offered performances by the Japanese Crane Dancers, distributed "Faith, Freedom, Peace" T-shirts, provided custom calligraphy, hosted a fishing pond, and taught origami for kids.</li>
 <li>Universal Peace Federation (UPF) &amp; American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC):
 Highlighted the Peace Road Initiative, introducing the global grassroots movement born out of the 1981 vision for an International Peace Highway initiated by Rev. Sun Myung Moon. His wife, the Mother of Peace, Dr. Hak Ja Han, turned this vision into an annual call to action, encouraging cooperation across national, cultural, and religious borders to advance a more peaceful world.</li>
 <li>Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP): Hosted a booth where attendees could "plant seeds for peace" and take home a small flower pot to nurture at home.</li>
</ul>
The festival brought together residents from across New Jersey and Pennsylvania through music, food, and family activities, demonstrating that peace grows when people meet and celebrate together.
The global Peace Starts With Me movement was officially initiated in 2017 by the Mother of Peace, Dr. Hak Ja Han. She launched it as a call to action for a united voice for peace, guided by the "Logic of Love" rather than the logic of power. The Peace Starts With Me Alliance is reigniting its culture of service in honor of Dr. Hak Ja Han’s lifelong commitment to bringing people together as one united family of shared values, mutual respect, and interdependence.
It was a natural fit to partner with the Peace Islands Institute (PII) for this event, as PII is guided by the vision of building "islands of peace"—communities where people from all walks of life interact in friendship and service to strengthen civil society.

<h3>Families Can Explore Summer 2027 at the September 26 Open House</h3>
Families thinking ahead to summer 2027 are invited to visit Meadowbrook Country Day Camp during an Open House on Saturday, September 26, from 12–4 p.m. at 73 East Valley Brook Road in Long Valley.
The Open House is by appointment only. Families can reserve a time by emailing <a href="https://null" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">mason@meadowbrookdaycamp.com</a>.
During their visit, prospective camp families will have an opportunity to meet members of Meadowbrook’s leadership team, learn about the camp’s programs and philosophy, and tour its expansive wooded campus.
“There’s no substitute for coming to Meadowbrook, walking the grounds and seeing what makes the camp so special,” said owner Mason Goldberg. “We want families to get a real feel for the community their children can become part of.”
<h2>More Than a Summer Schedule</h2>
Meadowbrook Country Day Camp is an American Camp Association-accredited day camp located on a 50-acre campus in Long Valley. The camp serves children ages 3–15 and offers programming designed to help campers build confidence, independence, friendships and lifelong memories.
At the heart of the Meadowbrook experience are three priorities: family, connection and safety.
Campers become part of a caring, supportive community where they can form meaningful friendships, try new things and develop greater confidence and independence. Meadowbrook also places a strong emphasis on creating an environment where every camper feels safe, supported and included.
The camp’s TIGER core values — Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm and Respect — are incorporated throughout the summer, encouraging campers and staff to carry those lessons with them both at camp and beyond.
<h2>A Summer Filled With Possibilities</h2>
No two days at Meadowbrook are exactly alike.
Campers can spend their summers swimming in heated pools, playing sports, boating, mountain biking, taking on ropes and challenge courses, creating art, cooking, dancing, exploring nature and participating in special events and themed activities.
The variety allows children to enjoy the activities they already love while also discovering new interests and challenging themselves in new ways.
Older campers can also participate in travel programs that combine time at Meadowbrook with off-site adventures and experiences.
And while the activities are a big part of camp, the friendships and memories children create along the way are often what stay with them the longest.
<h2>Convenience for Busy Families</h2>
Meadowbrook also offers features designed to make summer easier for parents.
The camp provides door-to-door bus transportation throughout many North Jersey communities, with routes serving areas throughout Morris, Essex, Union, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, Middlesex and Somerset counties.
Before-care and after-care are also available, and lunch is served daily.
Another feature appreciated by Meadowbrook families is that staff tips are included in tuition, eliminating an additional end-of-summer expense.
<h2>A Place Kids Want to Come Back To</h2>
For Goldberg, whose own children have attended Meadowbrook, creating a successful camp experience goes far beyond filling a child’s day with activities.
The goal is to give campers a place where they feel known, supported and excited to return each morning.
Over the course of a summer, children have opportunities to become more independent, build confidence, develop friendships and experience the traditions and moments that make camp memorable.
Those experiences can become part of a child’s story long after the summer ends.
