<h3>Stuart Brown is an award-winning Connecticut playwright whose 10-Minute works have been staged in his home state as well as California, Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Texas, West Virginia, and via the British podcast, Theatrical Shenanigans.&nbsp; &nbsp;He has also written six full one-act plays that have received staged readings in Connecticut.&nbsp; Brown is a member of The Dramatist Guild, the Outer Critics Circle and is the current President of the Connecticut Critics Circle.&nbsp; He is the owner, program director and host of the 24/7 online Broadway music radio station “Sounds of Broadway” (soundsofBrodway.com).&nbsp;</h3>

Christine Andreas is a two-time Tony Award nominee and multiple award-winning singer and actress whose acclaimed career spans Broadway, concert stages, television, and cabaret. Best known for her starring roles in My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, On Your Toes, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and La Cage aux Folles, she has also appeared in the national tour of The Light in the Piazza.
A celebrated concert and cabaret artist, Christine has headlined at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Café Carlyle, and Feinstein's/54 Below, earning both the Mabel Mercer Award and the Bistro Award for Ongoing Artistry. Her television credits include Law &amp; Order: SVU, The Cosby Show, and Another World. Her acclaimed one-woman show, PIAF: No Regrets, was recorded in London with the BBC Orchestra and remains a signature part of her repertoire.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Brian R. Bill Darien Memorial VFW Post 6933's 21st Annual Push &amp; Pull Parade on Saturday, July 4.
The morning begins with a Declaration Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the Darien High School courtyard. Families participating in the parade should arrive at DHS by 9:45 a.m. Contest winners will be announced at 10:20 a.m., and the parade steps off at 10:30 a.m.
The parade route travels from DHS to Noroton Avenue and concludes at VFW Post 6933.
Singer-songwriter Griffin House will perform as the special musical guest. After the parade, attendees can enjoy food vendors, live music, face painting and children's activities at the VFW.
Contests include Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Float and Most Patriotic Family, with winners leading the parade as honorary grand marshals.
The event is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $25 per family will be accepted via Venmo at @DarienVFW.(Shutterstock photo)

A New Birth of Freedom: America at 250 — Beautiful. Broken. Beloved. Becoming.
WESTON, CT — As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Norfield Congregational Church invites the community to participate in a timely and thoughtful four-week sermon series exploring what freedom, faith, hope, and responsibility mean in this historic moment.
Beginning Sunday, July 5, 2026, Senior Minister Rev. Dr. Bernard R. Wilson will lead the series, “A New Birth of Freedom: America at 250 — Beautiful. Broken. Beloved. Becoming.”
Through scripture, reflection, and honest conversation, the series will examine how people of faith can engage the nation's milestone with gratitude, humility, courage, and hope.
“This is not a partisan series,” notes Rev. Wilson. “It is a Gospel series. We are not gathering around a flag, but around Christ's table. Our goal is to explore what faithful citizenship and Christian hope look like in a complex and changing world.”
The preaching series will be complemented by special musical offerings by Dr. David H. Connell, Director of Music and Worship Arts.American composers and hymns writers from across our history will be featured.
The four-part series includes:
July 5 — REMEMBER
Prisoners of Hope 
Is honest love strong enough to tell the truth?
The series opens with an invitation to reflect on America's blessings and shortcomings, embracing a hope that is deeper than nostalgia and grounded in God's promises.
July 12 — PLANT
What Kind of Soil Will We Be? 
Is freedom a finished monument—or a seed entrusted to us?
This message explores the responsibility of cultivating a future rooted in justice, compassion, and faithfulness.
July 19 — BELOVED
Surely God Is in This Place 
Can grace still wash ashore when the world is groaning?
In addition to the 10:00am worship service in the Sanctuary, a special beach service will be held at 8:30 a.m. at Compo Beach in Westport, celebrating God's presence in creation and community.
July 26 — RISE
Give Us a Listening Heart 
What wisdom will guide the next 250 years?
The series concludes with a call to deeper listening, discernment, and hope for generations yet to come.
Throughout the month, worshipers will be invited to wrestle with questions of national identity, faith, stewardship, and belonging while remaining centered in the Gospel's vision of reconciliation and hope.
