The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. At 90 years young, psychologist Dr. Howard Mase takes the stage alongside his real-life daughter, recording artist and performer Marla Mase, in BEING SOMEBODY, an uplifting and unique theatrical event about family, dreams, resilience, and the moments that shape our lives.
Together, Howard and Marla take audiences on a funny and moving journey through growing up in Brooklyn across two generations—from Howard's childhood as a skinny little Jewish kid in the post-war glow of the 1940s and '50s to Marla's coming of age in the gritty, disco-lit New York of the 1970s.
Through true stories, music, humor, and multimedia projections, father and daughter celebrate the worlds they came from—and remind us that there are always new chapters waiting to be written.
Howard's favorite saying is, “You're never too old to be young.” At 90, he's living it.

Hortulus of Greenwich will host its 53rd annual flower show, "An American Tapestry" on Tuesday, September 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church parish hall in Greenwich. The show is free and open to the public.
Award-winning members of Hortulus will present a cornucopia of entries showcasing their talents in floral design, horticulture, flower specimens, vegetable baskets, botanical arts, needlework and photography.
Many participating Hortulus members have received awards at major flower shows and competitions. The annual event offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy an impressive range of creative and horticultural work produced by members of one of Greenwich’s longstanding garden clubs.
