The days and weeks before Christmas are often lost in a blur of shopping, baking and card sending. All in preparation for the “Big Day”… Christmas. But what are we really preparing for? Somewhere along the way the birth of Christ has become a commercial event – and unfortunately a time to judge the health and solvency of the economy.

Hence, the season of Advent… a time when Christian Churches urge us to stop, slow down and reflect on who and where we are and what Christmas really means.

In the cold days of December, the nights become longer. We miss and long for the sunlight. Out of the darkness, comes the light of Blessed Hope. Like the people of old we are waiting, once again, for that “Holy Night”, the dawning of the day of salvation, peace and reconciliation.

We are happy and pleased to present The Chorale’s Advent production “Blessed Hope” for the first time in recorded form. These songs of waiting and expectation inform and challenge us “To prepare the way of the Lord”, to fully experience this season of wonder.

Through the years, performing this music has never failed to move and inspire us. We hope as you listen, the power and quiet peace of Advent will also find its way to your heart.
