No prior experience is needed — we’ll guide you every step of the way in a friendly, relaxed setting.Registration is encouraged but not required.

Picnic with us 'til the sun goes down!Audubon is thrilled to partner with Gather Food Hall to celebrate the longest day of the year, welcome the first day of summer, and gear up for Pollinator Week. For birds, the Summer Solstice falls at the height of breeding season! It’s also a seasonal turning point: after the solstice, days begin to shorten, cueing birds to shift from nesting to post breeding activities and, eventually, migration. We hope you’ll join us for this nature-forward, family-friendly event, which will have something for everyone.

Join us on June 24th to learn all about Purple Martins, from their fantastic migrations and nesting habits to identification&nbsp;and how you can attract them to your own backyard.Will Krohn, an avian ecologist and graduate student at the University of Delaware, studies Purple Martins, specifically how young birds move between and select colonies for nesting. He will discuss his research work and what it means for the conservation of this species into the future.&nbsp;
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Must be 21 years or older to be served alcohol.
Registered encouraged but not required.

Join us for an evening paddle on the gentle waters of the Lower Perkiomen and discover the many birds that depend on its riparian habitat. You’ll learn about the valuable resources the Creek provides to a variety of wildlife, and why protecting the Delaware River Watershed and its tributaries is good for people too.

All participants must be at least five years old, and persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: $35.00 per person, due at time of ticket purchase
** Registration required through reservations. Please submit your reservation with the appropriate number of people and age groups, and a staff member will get in touch to complete the ticket purchase.

Step back in time and join us for a special annual church service where we honor the legacy of some of the earliest settlers in the area! We will have a worship service in Old Trappe Church built in 1743. Special Guest preacher Rev. Karl Krueger will be delivering a homily on our heritage. Following the service, a luncheon and presentation entitled, “Baking for Freedom: Christoph Ludwig, A Lutheran Patriot”, will be delivered. All are welcome - hope to see you there!
Christoph Ludwig, often spelled Ludwick, was a German‑American patriot. Born in Hesse-Darmstadt and trained as a baker, Ludwig settled in Philadelphia and became a trusted leader among the city’s German-speaking community. 
During the Revolutionary War, Congress appointed him “Superintendent of Bakers for the Continental Army”. Refusing personal profit, Ludwig insisted on fair rations for soldiers and became known for his reliability and loyalty to the American cause. Washington called him his “honest friend.” Thanks to Ludwig, thousands of soldiers received daily bread, which often made the difference between endurance and collapse. 
In his will, he left money to help poor children attend school, showing his dedication to education. His legacy continues through the Christopher Ludwick Foundation, which upholds his mission in 2026. 
When Ludwig died in 1801, he was buried in the churchyard of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Germantown.
