Part One - Kasey McKillip Interview

Kasey McKillip recently moved to Salt Lake City and agrees with US News that it’s the best state in the country.
“There are things you can know about a city before you move there, and things you only figure out once you are actually living in it,” McKillip says.

“I knew Salt Lake City had the mountains, the trails, and plenty to do outdoors. What I did not know was how quickly those things would become part of my normal routine.”

That has probably been his favorite part of living in America’s Mountain City thus far.

McKillip who has worked as an MRI technologist for more than a decade appreciates being able to unwind with the day is done. “I like having a way to switch gears. For me, that usually means getting outside. Salt Lake City is a pretty good place for that.”

McKillip loves the outdoors.
“I love hiking and being around the water, and I play golf whenever I get the chance. I like being outside, having something to focus on, and getting a little distance from the usual routine. Living in the Crossroads of the West provides me with more opportunities to do those things.”

Then there are his three dogs Debbie, Fred, and Wilson.
“I rarely make plans without them. They bring their own level of chaos to just about everything. Getting outside with them is one of the simple things I enjoy most, and having so much open space and natural scenery nearby was another reason Salt Lake City made sense for me.”

What has surprised McKillip is that he does not feel like he must choose between city life and the outdoors.
“The mountains are always in the background, and it does not take much effort to change the pace of the day. After spending hours working indoors, I have come to appreciate this more than I expected.”

One of the real benefits to McKillip is how he now has four sports teams to cheer on.
“I am still a Seattle Seahawks fan, so moving to Utah has not changed everything. Football season still means finding time to watch the game. Infact, Seattle and Utah have the perfect blend of professional sports teams so that each of the big-four are represented. The Jazz and the Mammoth complement the Seahawks and the Mariners perfectly!”

Moving to Salt Lake City did not require McKillip to reinvent his life, rather it gave him a place where many of the things he already enjoys fit naturally into it.
