2. Del Ray Farmhouse Market and Garden seeks city permit for small live music stage (alxnow.com) — A Del Ray business at 1913 Mount Vernon Avenue is asking Alexandria’s Planning Commission to approve a small outdoor stage for live music and DJs during special events and pop-up markets. The owner says performances would be limited to two musicians and four-hour blocks under city noise permits, with only alcohol samples allowed on-site. The permit goes to a public hearing on Sept. 1.

Two Alexandria PTAs named National PTA Schools of Excellence (alexandriabrief.com) — Two Alexandria City Public Schools parent groups – Alexandria City High School PTSA and Cora Kelly School PTA – have been named National PTA Schools of Excellence for 2025-2027. The honor recognizes their work strengthening family-school partnerships, and makes Alexandria one of only three Northern Virginia localities on this year’s roster, with National PTA itself headquartered in the city.

City Council approves additional policing auditor investigation (alextimes.com subscription) — Alexandria City Council has ordered more investigation into the in-custody death of Allan Tucker Jr., focusing on a supervising sergeant’s role and police training. The independent policing auditor will revise her report, but any disciplinary recommendations for Alexandria Police must remain confidential under state law, with only the process explained publicly.

Job Details for Financial Administration Assistant (uscourts.gov) — The Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia is hiring a Financial Administration Assistant based in its Alexandria office, with salaries ranging from about $70,000 to $133,000 and full federal benefits.
