Alexandria Mails 2026 First Half Real Estate Tax Bills Due June 15 (alexandriava.gov) — If you own property in Alexandria, your first-half 2026 real estate, refuse, and stormwater bills are out and must be paid by June 15 to avoid penalties and interest. The City details exact rates, late fees, and multiple payment options, plus tax relief and exemptions for seniors, people with disabilities, and some disabled veterans. Check your bill and contact the City now if you didn’t receive one.
   

2. Serious Pedestrian Accidents In Alexandria Have This In Common, Police Say (patch.com) — Alexandria police say the most serious recent pedestrian crashes in the city overwhelmingly involve drivers making left turns, not speeding, alcohol, or cell phones. Lieutenant Nick Lion explains how visibility issues and driver focus contribute, and outlines a three-pronged safety push urging both motorists and pedestrians to “see and be seen” at local intersections.

The Alexandria Teen Science Café will host its final session of the school year (ffxnow.com) — Alexandria teens can sign up now for the final Teen Science Café of the school year, happening May 21 at Virginia Tech’s Washington‑Alexandria Architecture Center on Prince Street. This Sociable Sweetheart Is Alexandria's Adoptable Pet Of The Week (patch.com) — A young dog named Amma is waiting for adoption through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, with her fees already covered by a donor. Alexandria residents can meet her and other pets at the Eisenhower Avenue shelter during afternoon and weekend adoption hours if they’re ready to offer a loving home.
