ANNANDALE, VA — A 56-year-old woman died from injuries she received after being struck by a vehicle as she was crossing a street in Annandale early Saturday evening, according to authorities.

Fairfax County police officers responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. to investigate the report of a pedestrian-involved crash on John Marr Drive between Backlick and Ravensworth roads.

"Officers determined that the driver of a 2012 BMW was traveling westbound on John Marr Drive toward Ravensworth Road," according to the incident report. "The pedestrian, Sun Hyo Kim, 56, of Annandale, was crossing John Marr Drive from the south side to the north side when she was struck by the BMW."

Kim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries and was later declared deceased, according to police. The BMW driver, who was uninjured, remained on the scene.

While alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police are still working to determine if speed played a role in the crash, according to police.
