I have known Adrian since he was a little boy. It has been a pleasure to see him grow into a caring, thoughtful, community-spirited teenager. He has consistently maintained a strong academic record and participated in numerous community-giving activities. He volunteers regularly at a local food pantry, and he recently started a project geared toward teen mental health.

This project is based on a simple premise — giving out business card-sized cards with positive messages that people can keep and read when they’re feeling down. They can also visit the website he created, pocketpositivity.org, where he has started compiling mental health resources. In a time when the world is increasingly digital, he has found a way to connect with peers and strangers, one positive card at a time. Adrian has always shown creativity and empathy, and I see him going far in life.

What three words best describe your star student?
