Falls Church Primary Voter Guide: What’s On The Aug. 4 Ballot

FALLS CHURCH, VA – On August 4, voters in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District will choose who will represent the Democratic Party in the November general election for that seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and who will represent the GOP in the Senate election.

Early voting for that primary began on June 18 and ends on August 1. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so any registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary they choose.

VA 8 Democratic primary

Five candidates are competing in the Democratic primary for Virginia's 8th Congressional District. The five candidates are:

• Donald S. Beyer (incumbent)
• Michael Duffin
• Adam Dunigan
• Mo Seifeldein
• Lorena Thorne Bruner

On the Republican side, Tony Sabio has already been named the party’s nominee.

Senate Republican Primary

Voters can choose from among 3 candidates running to represent the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate race in November. Those candidates are:

• Kim Farington
• Bert K Mizusawa
• David Earl Williams

On the Democratic side, incumbent Senator Mark Warner has already secured his party's nomination.

Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Voting In Person

Virginia polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be an option for emergency voting on August 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Voting By Mail

Completed ballots can be mailed as long as they are postmarked by Election Day and received by the registrar's office by noon on the following Friday. They can also be dropped off in the secure ballot box located outside City Hall on 300 Park Avenue until 7 p.m. on Election Day.

The ballot box is under 24/7 video surveillance and is monitored by the Falls Church Police Department.

Voters can track ballots by mail by using Ballot Scout and confirm ballots have been received on the Virginia Department of Election's Citizen Portal.
