Tim Perry is undefeated at No. 1 singles and had a huge win against Brookfield Academyβs No. 1 player. Thursday, the teams traveled to Whitnall on a cold and rainy evening. The weather didnβt dampen the varsity girls as they scored 6 goals in the firstΒ half on their way to an 8-0 conference victory. Sara Waters got the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with a goal in the third minute of the game. Serah Washington scored the secondΒ goal on a nice pass from Sunni Kessenich. Freshman Marlee Lane scored to make the score 3-0 in the 17th minute. Sara Waters scored the next three goals to extend the Shorewood lead to 6-0 at halftime. Serah Washington scored her secondΒ goal eight minutes into the secondΒ half and a goal two minutes later gave Shorewood an 8-0 lead and left them 2-0 in conference play.
Friday night, Shorewood hosted the fifthΒ Annual Eastside Cup. The varsity girls played Dominican in the firstΒ round game. Defensively, the Greyhounds didnβt allow one shot and offensively put 11 shots on goal.Β Sara Waters scored the first goal at 13:49 and followed that up six minutes later with her secondΒ goal on a nice pass from Eva Miller, to give Shorewood a 2-0 halftime lead. Five minutes into the secondΒ half, Marlee Lane scored to make it 3-0 and a little over a minute later, Sara Waters scored her third goal to give the Greyhounds a 4-0 victory.Β
Saturday morning, the teams arrived at the field to find it covered in snow.Β Fortunately, the sun was warm and melted the snow by the secondΒ half.Β By that time, Sunni Kessenich had scored two goals, one in each half to give the Greyhounds a 2-0 victory and a spot in the championship game against Nicolet. The Nicolet game was close and hard fought, each team only getting four shots on goal.Β Unfortunately, Nicolet scored early in the secondΒ half to take the championship, 1-0. It was a good weekend for the girls as they showed that they are a determined team having played 5 games in one week and earning a 4-1 record.
