The Shorewood Swim Club is embarking on a $54,000 fundraiser to purchase a scoreboard, timing system and starting blocks in the swimming pool.
The swimming pool scoreboard went dark twice in the last swim season, and one of the starting blocks is falling out of its anchor. If the fundraiser goes as planned, the group hopes to install the new equipment in August, in time for the beginning of the high school swim season.
The Shorewood Swim Club will seek additional funds from Shorewood High School, Shorewood Athletic Department and the Shorewood Booster Club. The Shorewood Swim Club may also request School Board funds for the scoreboard and starting blocks.
As part of the fundraiser, the swim club will be holding a Swim-A-Thon on June 10.
