• First Methodist welcomes new pastor (brewtonstandard.com) — First Methodist on Belleville Avenue in Brewton has welcomed a new pastor who’s focused on connecting younger families with older members through mentorship and shared wisdom. He hopes to make children’s spiritual growth a priority, believing parents will follow where their kids feel safe and engaged, while continuing the church’s long local history dating back to 1873. 
• East Brewton water employee arrested, released on bond (brewtonstandard.com) — An East Brewton Water Board employee has been accused of taking more than $46,000 from the utility over several months, following a sheriff’s office investigation. City officials stress the Water Board operates separately from city government, and say more details will be released as the case continues.
