📰 News we're reading
• 20 Alabama hospitals receive federal warnings over price transparency requirements (abc3340.com) — Eastpointe Hospital in Daphne is among 20 Alabama facilities warned by federal regulators for not fully meeting hospital price transparency rules. The enforcement push, which can lead to hefty fines, targets hospitals that haven’t properly posted required pricing data, putting local patients and employers on notice to expect clearer cost information from area providers.

• Baldwin County researchers develop historic tiny transmitter to track hummingbirds' migration (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Cutting-edge hummingbird research is happening right here in Baldwin County, with tiny new transmitters already being deployed on birds in Daphne and nearby communities. Local ornithologists Emma Rhodes and Kyle Shepard are leading the international HumTrack project, backed by a major federal grant, to map hummingbird migrations from the Gulf Coast to as far as Alaska. Their work heavily involves local “hummer hosts” and field sites around Mobile Bay.

• ASWA softball all-state team features first 6-time selection in history (al.com) — Daphne softball standout Abby J Johnson has become one of just a few five-time all-state selections, earning first-team outfield honors again on the ASWA’s 7A list. Fellow Trojan Claire Senese also picked up honorable mention recognition, as the statewide teams highlighted top high school players across every Alabama classification and AISA.
